CO Mountain Cruise
I am getting a bunch of my SQ buddies together around August sometime for a mountain cruise.
The plan is for the front range members to all meet up at red rocks and head up from there... It will run up to Gleenwood Springs for some lunch and fellowship. Then head back down a few hours later.
Exact date and route needs to be determined so all you CO guys pipe in and give me some ideas.
WYO guys feel free to join up as I will be heading down from the Loveland, Ft Collins area.
Lets do this, I would love to get together with some other respectable car guys.
Daryl

To keep it from being all interstate, how about these routes:
1) Highways 285 from Denver to Buena Vista, 24 to Twin Lakes, 82 over Independence Pass through Aspen to Glenwood Springs. Return on I70. Nice mix of twisties, scenery, and cruising.
2) I70 from Denver to Copper Mtn, Hwy 91 through Leadville to Twin Lakes, 82 over Ind. Pass, etc. as in #1. Or from I70 grab Hwy 9 at Frisco, through Breckenridge to Fairplay, grab 285 there and continue as in #1. Nice lollipop through the mountains either way if you don't want to take 285 all the way out of Denver.
There's a great place to eat breakfast near Basalt called Breakfast in America (if you got on the road early enough), and Basalt has an e85 station Basalt is about halfway b/t Aspen and Glenwood, which is about the overall halfway point of the trip. I'm headed over Ind. Pass this weekend to do some hiking in the Fryingpan Wilderness area...supposed to be gorgeous over there this year thanks to all the rain we've gotten.
The routes north of I70 don't seem as interesting to me, but maybe I have not explored enough up there yet lol.

Im in. Just need a date. I also prefer the E85 way so those of us who run it can actually make it all the way there without having to re-tune on pump. . . .

A trip from Denver to Glenwood Springs can't be called a cruise. Better call it a day trip. I've always been interested in doing one of these, but my car isn't done yet.
With inspiration from Top Gear, how about making it a quest to find the best driving roads in Colorado?

Sounds like a great thread to me!
I don't want to lose focus on the day trip out of Denver but is anybody up for a great twisty road this weekend, July 31st or Aug 1st? We can meet in Fort Collins and head up the Poudre Canyon. Taking CR 27 from HWY 14 back to Fort Collins. It is an awesome drive if you love the mountains! It'll take us 2 hours max to make the loop. We can meet around 3 p.m. Saturday, head up for the drive, come back down, and eat dinner. If anybody wants to stay for some Sat. night cruising in Fort Collins we can do that too. All in all, just looking to hang out and have some fun with other DSM owners/fans.

Actually, I'm going to make it a plan. I'll be at the Old Circuit City Parking Lot in FoCo at 2:45 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. If anybody wants to meet up I'll see you there! PM me with any questions. Its probably to late of notice for most but its worth a shot

Your DSM is almost done slacker! Just take yours. There are a lot of roads here near C/S I always run through. Nice thing about CO is if you are looking for the ultimate drivers road there are a lot of them
Here is one a friend and I went on the other weekend. It was fun as always:
DSMs driving down closed mountain road in Mexico - Car Videos on StreetFire
At least once a month I'll just get away by myself and drive around on the 'out of the way' mountain roads.
