Need some advice here. A while back, almost a year ago, I was a tard and spun a rod bearing. Im in college now about 480 miles from where my car is at now, when its rebuilt should I even try to drive it back here or try to have it brought by trailer?

Trailer... no doubt about it.

You may get a few miles out of it without "too" much more damage, or you may turn a relatively inexpensive repair into the need for a new motor.

EDIT:

Wait a minute...are you asking if you should drive it to your school after it is rebuilt? I'm a bit confused now that I read your question again :)

if you get it rebuilt, you will have no problems driving it anywhere

Can is a question of ability and you have the ability to drive te car with a spun bearing but would anyone in there right mind drive with a spun bearing. Absolutely not the spun bearing is just the start of your problems. If you allow the rod to continue to beat the crank it will score the crank and the rod. Not to mention the metal fragments that you have now induced into your oil system. now is a good time, since you will more than likely doing a rebuild, to go ahead and dump a little more funds into upgrading to some beefier internals. why rebuild a motor again if you dont have too.

Sorry that wasnt my question. I had originally posted this in the 'Engine break in' thread but someone moved it. It IS being rebuilt and i was wondering if it would be too risky to drive it on the interstate during the break in process or should i have it brought to me on a trailor?

I read the title and first thing I thought was... "Can I skip the hospital after being shot in the head".

WTF

Well I read some people saying not to go even over 55 during break in whereas I go 80+ on the interstate so I was just wondering if it would be quicker to trailer it or not to worry about that

If your brave have someone follow you so just in case.

I get goose bumps every ttime I try to start my car.
