Hmm, Replica Type S?

Well, I was looking through Google Video for DSMs and found a video of these guys who made a replica Greddy type s and they claim it has a better seal then the Genuine Type S.
They call it the NGR Type s. Anyone ever heard tried this bov?

I rocked an eBay Type S for a looong time with fantastic results.
However, it should be noted that many (though not I) had their diaphragms tear and I had stripped ever single piece of hardware on the damned thing because the metal was so soft.

But I'd buy two more before I bought the real deal.

So far, my adjusting screw on my Type rs stripped so I use a vice grip to turn the screw. I think its because I over tightened the 10mm nut. I took it out and Teflon taped it for better seal.

I actually tested this NGR Type-S BOV because they are pretty close to me and my Greddy Type-RS had problems, so I just contacted them because they were looking for testers. When I first saw it, it looked identical to the Greddy Type-S except the bottom was polished and it looked nice. When we installed it on my car it sounded great. It whistled just like the Greddy Type-S and it was recirculated too. They then wanted to hear it vented so we vented it to hear it, we took vids and it sounded extremely nice and loud. I was running 15psi and it held boost perfectly. My old Greddy Type-RS was leaking and this one was working how it should. There were no leaks (we did BLT after).

They were nice guys and said they would let me keep the Type-S once they released them to the public and they showed me the internals and compared them to the Greddy internals and they both looked very similar, except the NGR one had this orange/red looking diaphragm that looked like the Greddys' but was stronger. They were explaining how it's more flexible and durable and wouldn't leak under high boost. It definitely looked better than the Greddy Type-S and worked better than my RS.

At one of our Mitsu-dealer meets, there was a guy revving the piss out of his friends 1g with either a 14b or a 16g, I couldn't tell... and it was surging like CRAZY! Even when they drove off. Take a wild guess what "BOV" was on it???

I know that some replicated items are usually junk. But this bov, from reading what boostedinsoflo said, could be a great product. I went on ebay to see if they were selling it and it seems they haven't put the bov up for sale yet. Supposedly. the sale date was on Mid October (now).

I believe hes talking about NGR Type-S not the cheap ebay ones. I was about to post thread on this as well, I saw there vids and they sound real nice. Here is link to their videos on youtube:

Ive emailed them and they respond real fast to emails so thats a plus and they said there going to start selling in about a week or two more on ebay. I asked them if they had warranty and they said it is a 6 month warranty. Im interested in it as well.

For many people (including me) who have a hard time looking for the beloved Genuine Type S and having the signature whistle. This could be the opportunity for us to get a quality replica at a fair price.

I've read on one of the Youtube comments, that the price is set at $129.98 shipped anywhere in the US, this includes 6 months of warranty as confirmed by JM1080.

With that warranty, it seems that they guarantee this item will be as good, if not better then the real thing.

Edit: I read their ebay page and they say they have a 30 day return policy on it.

Yea they seem to be good people, Ive emailed them about release date, and they stated their a bit held back and they are aiming for the end of October.

Yea I had a Greddy Type-S and it did sound nice, but I had too many problems with it, damn threads would always strip and diaphragm was crap too, I even bought the 80 dollar one off turbochargers.com and it also ripped in a couple of months. Im sort of glad Greddy went out of business

I have some knockoff Type-S's, you want to buy them off me? Trust me Ive seen the ebay crap ones and they are crap . I still cant even sell them

Also they dont even make the nice whistle, these NGR Type-S make whistle like the authentic whistle. And if you were to buy the real thing, well then good luck with the leaks and other probs like me and everyone else had...Just pissed at greddy products... Useless overpriced junk.

Hey guys guess what?! I bought one of those NGR Type-S. It arrives tomorrow, so well see. Ill post a review in this thread tomorrow with some pics. I asked several questions before I ordered and responses were good, I asked about max pressure it can sustain and its been tested to 30psi but they believe it holds more, they say you will never have to upgrade to any other BOV such as tial, etc.

Also warranty for 6 months, such as diaphragm. After 6 months diaphragms are 40 dollars not 80 like the greddys, and they are supposedly better than the greddy, they make them. They showed me pics as well, ill upload them to photobucket in a bit.

Ill also see if I can get a vid up once I install as well

Mine is a Greddy type-S, I had bought it new in ebay for $24 dollars and so far so good, no stripped out screws or anything. Is been working great

Ive been talking to them when they first started releasing videos and they offered me a discount if I posted review and a video, I got mine for 125 shipped

Also here are the pics they sent of the diaphragm comparisons, I guess boostedinsofla was right with his review. Ill post mine once I install it.
