I'm in the process of choosing a t3/4e for my 92 gsx, and wanted to know some opinions of different people who have 50, 57, or 60 trims with a .63 a/r. I'm leaning towards the 60 trim, but the 57 is a possibility for a decreased spool time. some example setups would be nice, and some stats, like spool time, dyno numbers, and track times. Thanks.

thats order of least spool time to greatest, correct? nice car, my favorite year and color:) (mines identical with the mitsu badge)

This is not an advanced question. At all. but it comes down to 50 or 60. 57 is about the same as 50 but spools worse, 60 is my personal favorite. seems to make about 2 whp more at any given time, and spool is not much worse at all. If you want faster spool, get a 50.

Actually that is the order that I would choose for comp wheels. The 60 is my least favorite of the three and obviously the 50 is my favorite! None are more efficient at (what most people use) pump gas/lower race gas settings than the 50trim period. if you want decreased spool time consider getting a smaller turbine housing like a .48 you should get the wheel you want cause they are much more of a bi*** to change than the turbing housing.... Try maybe a 50 or 57 in a .48 housing if you are worried about spool, but just know that everything you do will have another side effect somewhere else... Good luck!!

Don't think so, I have about 3 friends with 60 trims, and a trillion with 50 trims. The 60 trims just make a more powerful car. ESPECIALLY since ALL turbonetics TO4E compressor wheels now have a 3 inch exducer, the 50 trim has lost that advatage. Ever since they put a 50 trim in a green no ones been able to think anything else is good in the series.

not true... Im just saying that a 60trim definetly doesn't make 20whp more at any given rpm as you stated. I know its capable of more power, but surely not at lower boost levels/rpm where most pump/street cars run...

obviously its not a linear jump in power, nto a flat 20 hp. but even at 18 psi its noticeably more powerful. Ive used one, and a 50 trim, and a 46 trim, and now I have a 60-1. Trust me, 60 trim makes more power.

I'll probably try out the 50 trim for starters, then work my way up if needed. Turbos seem easy enough to sell to the hondas crowd at our shop, so upgrading isn't too much of an issue. I'd like to thank both of you for your help, main decision for the 50, is I drive my car everyday, everywhere. Rain, shine, snow, whatever. If it works out, great, if not, oh well; into some pigtegra it goes. :) Thanks again guys!

Upgrading from a 50 trim to a 60 trim would be idiocy. if you upgrade from that turbo your going BIG dawg. hahaha.

Ran a 60 Trim, friends running 50 and 57 and I would say the 60 trim wins hands down. Ran 12.1 full wieght, blown head gasket and 3 cylinders with 21 psi of boost!

went out with a bang huh:)

Hummm. I talked to agp about this. They told me they dont ever recomend the 60 trim. Due to it doesnt perform like it should. I trust there word:dsm:

What good is a 60 trim when a 50 trim spools up faster. It would just be the "oh i got a bigger pos than you" factor. Just be careful, bigger isn't always better.

Well 60 trim spool is slower yes bc it's a bigger turbo and put down more power. 60 trim is very close to a 60-1 til about 26-28 psi. I had 15psi(full boost) at 3500 in 60trim /8 cm housing. Spool up wasn't slow IMO. 50 trim is great on gas yes, But 60 trim is good too. And Spoolup is spool up Just down shift and stay in higher RPM if you always wonder when full boost is going to come on. It's INSTANT.

What good is a 50 trim when a 14b spools up faster?

daily driver? well I hope there is no snow where you live, and you don't plan on getting into boost when its wet out or you don't have slicks. I had a mutt 1 on my GVR4 and in just wet conditions in 1st, 2nd and some of 3rd it would be spinning the tires when it wasn't dry out, and around corners, drift action. In a FWD I would say 50trim stg3 .63a/r if thats what you want. I bought a 60trim stg3 .82a/r(4bolt housing) I have read both 50 trim and 60 trim making 500whp on race gas and 400ish whp on pump gas, both look very good on paper, the 60-1 looks horible on paper but when the comp wheel is cramed into a mitsu 20g it will run 9.6@145 w/o nitrous. Its not always bench racing that gets you were you want to go, but a good place to start. The 50trim is short 3lbs/min to the 60 trim(50lbs/min) and is only 2% more efficent at most of the map. I have not gotten my car running yet but (1 month or so) when it does run I will get back to you on pump gas/race gas power, spool up, and track numbers for both.

The 60-1 does not look horrible on paper. I assume what your refering to is the way the turbo looks like its better at low RPMS, but remember, that the 60-1 is always flowed in the 60-1 compressor housing. Most people do not know a 60-1 compressor housing even ekists, but it does, and its setup for lower boost levels. If you take a TO4E housing for a 60-1 with a TON more diffuser area it makes the map look more 60 trim ish, alot taller, and its still flows a TON more air.

60-1 bad on paper= crap comp housing for map
