What does everyone think about these compression numbers. I have a 92 eagle talon TSI awd 150,xxx miles. Time belt and water pump done 10,000 ago. What I have done to it is 190 rewired fuel pump, dnp exhaust mani, mbc, 3in turbo back exhaust, 550cc injectors, 2 maft, 16g turbo, and fmic. Did a compression test on all cylinder 3 times then came up with these averages.
1-138 2-138 3-152 4-168

I'm thinking about getting ecmlink next would is it be alright with those numbers. This coming winter I plan on freshening the motor. New rings, bearings, and ect. Thanks for all the input.

With the way #1 & #2 look I would suggest you run a leakdown test next

Did leak down test @100psi
1: 55%
2: 63%
3: 36%
4: 10%

Herd slight leak in intake and exhaust on 1 & 2
Also herd slight leak for spark plug holes next to 1 & 2
Herd leak from oil cap on 1, 2, and the a little from 3
4 didn't realy hear anything

What would would happen if bought a link now. And tuned it on what I got done to it and rebuilt it this winter?

Leakage is an indication of a mechanical malfunction and link will not help. If you hear air escaping through the intake or exhaust then the valves are not sealed and you'll need to have a shop do a valve job and freshen the head. If you remove the oil fill cap or dipstick tube and hear air in the crankcase then that means the rings are shot and you'll need a shortblock rebuild.

Yes.. That's the long and short of it.

If you get link, and hook it up, you can start learning to tune with it on this wore out engine. This way you will have a better understanding of how link works. and if you screw up the tune bad, you will not cause damage to the new engine, once you build it and install.

That's a good theory but tuning a worn out engine is like chasing your tail. Erroneous a/f ratios and lack of power wont tell you if the changes you make are beneficial or not so you're not going to learn anything. Leaky intake valves makes reversion, good luck tuning with contaminated intake charges. Leaky exhaust valves will cause a lack of compression and rich a/f ratio.

Use the money you have to rebuild your engine NOW, since it looks like it is long overdue, after you get this done properly start saving for link, if you do it the other way around, you are going to hurt the engine even more.

Since u guy are mostly saying to rebuild. Now it comes to how I want my engine rebuilt. My goals are 350-400 from what I have read stock motor can handle that. So should I just put new rings on the stock piston or has anyone heard good things about NPR pistons. I plan on reusing the crank and rods. Going to put arp head studs in it. As for gasket set lot people recommend OEM gaskets but or other brands just as good felpro, topline, ITM, and ect. I will also use ACL bearing not unless other people have recommendation for them. If there is anything else I should replace while I'm tearing it apart let me know? Beside obvious timing belt water pump. Another question when I could hear the air leak threw the valves what will I need to fix that?

To fix the air leaking past the valves you will need to have a valve job done. Replace the valve springs and seals at the same time.

Have the head surfaced properly.

NPR pistons and rings will be just fine, NPR is the factory brand.

Have the block checked out to see if you can hone and go with the old pistons, it may have to be bored over sized, if it is bored then you will need new over sized pistons.

Have the block surfaced also, most blocks at the age they are have had a few HG replacementsm and is now distorted.
