What type of drill bit to turn oil pump? Checking for a leak

I have a nasty oil leak from the tbelt/front case area of the engine. I am trying to pinpoint the source (timing cover and belt is removed).

I want to turn the oil pump gear with a drill. What bit would I need to do this? I just have basic normal drill bits.
 
Don't use a drill bit as your title states, you'll just end up drilling a hole. I had a friend weld a 17mm socket onto a piece of round steel bar that was narrow enough to fit into my drill. Worked great.
 
Put the gear bolt back in it, and hope you do not push out the BS, or stubby shaft if a BSE has been done.

Then cut the square drive off a 1/4 extention, and use a 1/4 dive 6pt 12mm socket. to spin the pump

Yes it does have BS eliminated...I think the front BS elim. may be the oil leak, or else the oil pump seal.

Will a normal full size drill fir or do I need to buy a mini drill?
 
Just chuck up the cut 1/4 extention in your drill motor.
 
I always do just as bogus says, 1/4" adapter to 12m (seen a few 14mm's too) and spin the pump with the belt unhooked with a gauge on it to be sure of what i'm able to build.. I just made a special tool for the grand national i'm building to spin it's oil pump, here's a vid i made for the owner on youtuib

On my car (2g) is a bit of sheet metal that barely gets in the way of the extension so I put a small notch in with a grinder and now I can line it up perfectly.
 
14mm socket on a air ratchet or small impact???? Been doing it that way for 15 years.

Harbour Freight should have these. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive.
