First off hope im in the right spot. I have a 99 eclipse gst that I am wanting to swap the engine out in order to fix it and build it. I have found a complete engine with all the wiring harnesses with it at a good price, but my question is what would I need if anything to do the swap? Any helpwould greatly be appreciated, thanks for any.

Thanks for the reply, thats the answer I was hoping to get. It looks like I will be buying the engine then for my car.:hellyeah:

Not sure if the whole car is for sale but the engine is coming out of canada. I am just trying to make sure that the swap will be a easy one since it does have the wiring harness for it. All I will have to do is put my turbo set-up on it.

Evo thermostat housing does not hold the radiator cap like dsm. The evo puts radiator cap on the radiator. Not that that will be a issue to overcome. Also evo uses differant air filter pipe and IC pipes, agin not that it matters. Evo uses differant sized injectors. Injectors will be a issue tho. Use your dsm injectors if you don't have a AFC or dsmlink. Good luck man. Keep us all posted and once u get the engine do us all a favor and post pictures in this thread of EXACTLY how the engine looks when u get it. We wanna see pics of it uninstalled sittin on the wood pallet it was shipped on

Not a problem I will take pics of it all. it arriving to it being installed. Now as far as the radiator cap and ic piping I have an intercooler already installed on my car, as far as the radiator cap I guess thats something i will have to figure out cause I was not aware of that. The motor is complete was told that all i would have to do is put my turbo set-up on it and then drop it in. Also would evo scan help in anyway with setting the motor up?

Your '99 engine is better than the Evo 1 motor. Get it rebuilt. It has a 3 piece thrust bearing and it'll be fine.

You'll probably end up walking the EVO 1 motor (Which they do), and JDM engines are a crapshoot. I had a full tilt JDM GVR4 engine with a dropped valve in my old car. After a headgasket and a valve job later, I finally got it going.

The EVO wiring harness is worthless and is for a different engine bay. Unless your 2G harness is damaged, it's not worth a harness swap. You'll also need DSMLink or something else for an ECU, not just throwing the EVO 1 ECU in, unless you have no OBDII testing.

Seriously just rebuild your 99 block unless it's got a hole in it.

I dont think my engine is shot, its just at 25oo rpm's it starts having a knock in it. It doesnt matter if I am driving it or not, also does it in nuetral and just sitting there. I am not even close to figuring it out, I have already cahnged my lifters to the neew revised lifters and that didnt cure the problem and the shop I took it too couldnt figure it out. Thats why I was gonna buy this other engine. Now I am not sure if I will or just check into how much its gonna cast to rebuild mine. The cost of the other engine that i found was for one $800 and the other I found was $750 then I would have to pay to have it shipped so now with what was said maybe I wont get the evo1 engine.

Holy crap, figure out what is wrong with yours first! I had my harmonic balancer fail (common DSM failure) when I had my car about a yr and I thought the motor was done for. Video tape it and post it on here and someone will help you out. If a shop cant figure out whats wrong get in your car and run!
