Mystery cams with pictures.

Recently pulled my valve cover to investigate what head work was done on my 7 bolt. I knew from idle that I had more than likely a 272 combo but wasnt sure. I did find 3g lifters, bc2100 springs and titanium retainers, and stainless valves. The cams are sort of a mystery on the other hand. They have a G stamped on the cam gear side but on the other side exhaust has a C and intake has a F. From what I can tell these are out of a 92 non turbo 2.4 Galant but the letters on the cas side are different. So if anyone has any experience with this or could clear this up would be much appreciated.

Is that blue paint on em? My FFWD 272's have blue paint on both, and one has red and blue markings. FFWD doesnt engrave any numbers like some cams do(or at least I dont think they do). I also have a set of COMP cams. Those are hand engraved with their numbers. Got anymore pics?

Green paint on them and I am fairly sure they are comp 212s. Those pictures show all the markings on the cams I could find. Is there anything in particular your looking for? Can you post a pic of your comps so I can see for comparison?

I dont think there Comp. I thought maybe DKS (regrinds by FFWD). Comp engraves 101-202-8E(or what the cam is). I've never seen any paint on one. I'll attach pics of both though.

Edit: The Comp Cams do have a small purple mark.

It seems to be a regrind of some sort. All 3 of the pics you posted are stock cams markings. I had a set of WebCams back in the day and it was made from stock 2g cams.

92 Galants didnt come with 2.4s. Probaly came from a 2g or 94+ 4g64s.

Another way to tell is if you take off the cam gears, there should be an engraved number on the side of it to tell what you have. Pretty sure thats what they did with regrind cams back then.

Like stated above...Try to pull the cam gears off. I've seen regrinds have numbers right under the gears before.

i think i have the excat same cams! they have a little green splotch of paint on them? i was told mine are aftermarket too but i havent installed them yet. I also took off my cam gear and there was no engraving on it, so if we have the same cams, dont waste your time. hey if you happen to foind out what kind of cams they are please post it!!! thanks and good luck

From what I have seen HKS cams have HKS cast into the cam blank.

have you happen to find any info on them? ive been trying too but havent found anything. so yours didnt have engravings on them either? Mine has a H with one dot( kinda like your first picture) and the other cam has a H with 6 dots. They also have green paint spots on them as well. They sound alot like yours. soo when you installed yours and cranked it up, what would you relate it to?

FWIW, my old BC272's had blue and white on them. I'm not sure about stampings on the grinds themselves though.

The "101-2xx-8I" is a Comp intake cam part number, and the "101-2xx-8E" would be exhaust.
Forced Performance cams also have numbers similar to these, as their cams are ground by Comp.

Given the green paint, they may be regrinds of Comp or FP cams, but I don't think I've ever heard of that.

How are you so sure what cams they are?

You do know that the FFWD,DKS, HKS regrinds all come from Delta cams?
