I totaled my 2G, boohoo and all that shit. Okay, now moving on. I found a guy that wants to sell me a black '90 TSI AWD shell, transmission/t-case, no motor. Thing is, the 6 bolt motor from my 2G is unharmed:hellyeah: so i'm installing it into the 1G when I get it. But i have a T28 setup on it, and I'm not rigging that shit. So i might slap a 14b on there for now, and just turn it up to about 16psi. i'll probably build the head, aftermarket springs/retainers, and install hks 272/272 cams, a 3" turboback, and install my FMIC core with some new piping. Then I'll start doing some fuel mods like evo 560's or some 650's, a walbro 255 fuel pump, aftermarket FPR, and link. No way i'm using an SAFC, I've heard too much bad shit about them. Once I have all that done, I'll probably upgrade to a 20g or something quite a bit bigger than the 14b. Give me some opinions please.
 
If you go through the classifieds there is a Brian Crower built head for $300 which is a steal and from what i heard BC cams are better then the HKS cams and cheaper too. If you're gonna use it as a daily driver I'd go with a B16g or a E16g or even a Frankenstein 14b/16g. Good luck and make sure to start a blog or thread about your build!
 
I would just find a 2g guy and trade him your t-28 for his 16g. The flow rate is close to the same. Thought if I were you, I'd keep the t-28 and pick up a short route from VRSF they are cheap right now. 285 plus shipping and you wouldnt need a j-pipe for a down facing turbo. Or just get a flexible lower intercooler pipe.

I run BC cams, but just to inform you, they are junk when compared to HKS cams. HKS cams aren't cheap, but that's cause they're one of the most proven drop in cams for us. BC are better than stock, but inferior to the HKS cams. For a 20G set up like the OP was thinking about HKS 272s should be fine. Back in the day guys used to run 264/264s with 20Gs and that was concidered big. I think the 280s would be a bit oversized for a 20g.
 
Ran a BR 20G on my car last summer. Amazing Turbo. Full boost by 3600rpms and pulled like a freight train.
