So my motor is at the machine shop right now and I am delayed getting the motor back because the machinist wants to know the info for the evo 9 springs and retainers I gave him.

Like what are the numbers I need to give him?

I found this online but can someone verify it?

do I give him the numbers in bold?

this is what i found.

Some general data used in the test to "standardize" the results a bit.

Installed height general numbers (1.560) for comparison; this includes the mitsu locator given at an average value of 40.

.410 will be used for cam lift.

As follows;
DSM
Coil Bind
1.115
60
1.175 SAFE

1.560 = 68lbs
.030
1.530 = 72lbs
.410 LIFT
1.120 = 192lbs

But we're under where we need to be. When performing this last squeeze there was no daylight left. ABORT ABORT! DSM spring is KO'd. Even if we pull the shim its still over.

EVO

Coil Bind
1.035
60
1.095 SAFE

Installed height general numbers (1.560) for comparison; this includes the mitsu locator given at an average value of 40.

1.560 = 65lbs
.030 shim
1.530 = 72lbs
.410 will be used to simulate cam lift
1.120 = 154lbs

so noone knows anything about these?

well what cams are you going to use? if stock cams , and no plans to upgrade them later,, then insall them at the 1.560 @ 65 lbs

if you plan on running any aftermarket cam get diffrent springs... the .410 open pressure looks light.. 1.120 @ 154 lbs....

yes I have seen where some are running the evo springs with some aftermarket cams with good results....

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341209-4g63t-valve-spring-info.html

the evo springs are right about the same as the Stock 4g63 springs, manleys and the SBI replacements

the advantage you have by going to the evo springs is the alum retainers....

So I just give the machinist this info:

Coil bind
1.035
60
1.095 SAFE

installed height 1.560 (includes mitsu locator given at an average value of 40) -what is a mitsu locator?

1.560=65lbs
.030 shim - what shim?
1.530=72 lbs

What do I tell him to use to simulate cam lift? my Intake says the valve lift is .397 and the exhaust says .378?

sorry but I am pretty confused
