I would get that resurface and pressure tested, while your at it you should upgrade the springs and retainer. Makes things a lot easier if you choose to put in a set of cams, that just my opinion.

Resurface if overall thickness is still within spec. Have the head pressure tested before resurfacing. Remember it has to be resurfaced to a very smooth finish if you want to run a MLS head gasket.

Ok thanks :thumb: I haven't seen this on any of my other heads so wasn't sure if it was bad or not. The rest of the head looks mint and already checked it for bent valves, which there were non. I shall take it to the machine shop for some resurfacing

Find out what the lowest spot is where its corroded. If its not to bad then just resurface it. Now if its real bad as in it will take more than .010 to get rid of the pitted spots then i would have the areas welded before resurfacing.

Do you have any updates on this? Please let me know if the head is not useable so I can take care of you.

I sold him this head. I originally had a head at the garage ready to go, But the inside of the cylinder head was pretty corroded with old oil/stains ETC. I pulled this head off a RUNNING 1g awd car at my shop. The car had no problems as I bought it specifically for the engine. I did not want to send him the dirty head, So I pulled this head off the good engine, And had it shipped out, Being the inside was completly clean and looked new. I did not notice that area, Being I did not completly check it over since it was pulled off a perfect running car. The car never over-heated/leaked coolant/oil/compression, ETC.

Please as I said, Just keep me updated on this. I just noticed your thread after searching for something with one of the key words in your thread, And spotted this thread and realized the head was from me.

As I said, I have plenty of heads at my shop so if needed, I will have you send that one back, And send you out another one.

Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere, So if there IS a problem, Please do not hesitate to contact me as I will instantly fix the problem for you.

I was honestly unaware of this since I have not heard back from you!

Thanks,
Rob.

Hey Rob I wasn't sure about this head so I thought that I would ask tuners first. From the above responses I was reassured that this wasn't too bad so I sent it to the machine shop to get it resurfased since this is always a good idea to do when replacing the head gasket. I am also having it pressure tested and should here something shortly from them. I will keep you posted.

Side note: Rob is a great seller! :thumb:

Thank you very much for the reply. As soon as you hear back from the machine shop, Please let me know. I would not have any problems sending you out another head via 2-day mail so you are not held up, If that head turns out that it cannot be resurfaced.

Just keep me updated!
