2G-specific Crankshaft swap

I've been searching for this but my situation might be a little different...

Basically I bought a used built-(6)shortblock and disassembled it and found a scratch on the crank So luckily I have a spare 6-bolt crank that's in perfect condition.

BUT...The block is set up with ARP mains and the counterweights have been shaved(?) with this set up.

Can I just swap in the good one?

Thanks

The peoblem is going to be the balance of the crank. If your other shortblock was balanced with the shaved crank(as it should) you will have problems. Post a pic of the scratch. Does it catch your fingernail, or is a just barely visible discoloration?

The scratch is visible and it does catch my fingernail sometimes. Ill post a picture tomorrow. Is there a way to balance the crank without a machine shop?

I have a Hines duel plane computerized balancer (the same one that RCR and Hendrick use) and balance DSM cranks all the time. Turn around time is usually only a couple of days. PM if you are in need.

If you are going to be reassembling it then you should really have the whole rotating assembly balanced. It's rare that I have even come across an unbalanced stock crank. Send out your crank, rods, pistons, flywheel and pressure plate, and harmonic balancer. That will really help prolong the life of your engine.
