Just finish putting in my new motor in my 1G, 6 bolt. last night i tried starting it to break it in and it blows or loosens my oil filter when first starting in last than 5 seconds of running.
I removed the balance shafts, i still have oil squirter's and i didn't port the OFH, my oil cooler line is a lil kinked, and i am using 10/30 oil to break the motor in. i don't know what the oil pressure reading is but i think its excessive. after doing some research here lots of people are porting the OFH does anyone have a pic of the before and after port job? is there anything i can do the spring and piston to lower oil pressure? will removing or installing a larger oil cooler with bigger lines lower my oil pressure? did anyone have this problem b4? what else can i do? i don't want to take the motor apart.

okay man i am gona try porting the oil relief hole first and i will post some b4 and after pics. but what about the oil cooler can it cause this high oil pressure?

Having an oil cooler will not be the cause of high oil pressure.

I have an aftermarket B&M oil cooler, It did not raise my pressure.

I'd suggest the relief valve is stuck. Take it out and clean it up so it works properly.

^x2. I can't help but wonder, which head did you put on your conversion? If you used a seven bolt head, the head bolt holes need to be enlarged for the 6 bolt block. That's been known to cause higher than normal oil pressure, but blowing the oil filter? Wow! I'd really make sure that the relief plunger can move freely in it's bore.

b 4 putting the motor together i did that about one year ago, i am gona take it apart and see what is up. i will keep everyone posted on my findings

i would say your over 125psi if your blowing apart the oil filter, I will agree and say check your oil pressure relife valve.

I am using Non synt 10/30 oil, is 5/30 ok? would it also help lower my presure?

this was the problem and while there i ported the relief valve. thanks car has oil pressure now.:D
