So I'm swapping over my stock cams from my old head to my new head. All my valves are closed, so I just install my cams (with the sprockets still on the cams) at TDC right?

I've put them in already, but haven't torqued down the cam guides.
I just wanted to make sure before I finish it up tomorrow. Thanks! :aha:

Yep, thats exactly right, just make sure you used the right caps on the right spots, they are meant to go in a certain order.

*make sure there is no scoring or scratches in the caps/cam journals before install
1. use some assembly lube in each journal for saftey (each cap top and head on bottom) dont go crazy just a good light coat
2. make sure the dowl pins are both pointing up and the intake side has the slit for the sensor
3. make sure you put all the caps in the correct order or you will ruin the head (cant replace the caps cause they are cut to fit each head special)
4. put them all in place and finger tighen the bolts.(clean threads on bolts and CLEAN CAP SURFACES)
5 tighten the in the correct order each cap has a specific order to be tighened like the cylinder head and in torque phases THEY HAVE TO BE TORQUED TO THE CORRECT FT. LLBS or Newton meters.
5.make sure you roller rockers and lifters arnt binded or on crooked.
6. turn them over back and forth and check step 5

7.If your know all this already, dont be offended just trying to help :thumb:...:p

well the head is out of the car, on the ground while I put everything back on.

I got it all put back together today. I just need a couple studs/nuts which I'm gonna pick up tomorrow for the thermostat housing, and the CAS studs/nuts.

Like defiant said, you will need to make sure that the no.1 piston is at tdc. At this point you should probably just take off the tensioner, compress it, re-time the motor, and be safe.

this is what i did in your case, be extra safe bro and re do the timing, sorry i didn't read your first post well enough :|

Yeah, doing timing and setting tension wrong is why I'm here :p. This time I'm quad-checking everything LOL...I already have everything off so I'm going to have to set timing anyways.
