long story short i had to remove my head and now that its going back together i put the timing belt on last night tensioned the pulley and pulled the pin and the tensioner has barely expanded i was hoping that it would be possible to loose the tensioner pulley slightly and then use the tensioner tool to loosen it just slightly. Has any body tryed this any problems does it work? i would really love to avoid removing the timing belt tensioner.

It is difficult to understand your question exactly. Please use proper grammer and spelling.

The auto tensioner for the timing belt should not expand much when you release the pin. The gap should be between approximately 5/32" (0.157") and 11/64" (0.172"). With this gap, the grenade pin should be loose and come out easily. So when you release the pin and the tensioner "settles", the gap should still be within this range. Therefore you should expect it NOT to move much at all.

Here is a link to a good article detailing more info: Timing Belt

Sorry for the improper i was on the phone and distracted. The arm for my tensioner is almost sitting on the of the auto tensioner.I was Hoping i Could use the miller tool to hold the pulley and loosen the bolt and let it turn back the tensioner pulley back just slightly. When i get home from work i will get exact specs on what the gap is at now. I believe i tensioned the eccentric pulley to much.

Yes you can do that.

Before you do though, did you rotate the crank the full 6 revolutions and let it sit for awhile before checking the gap?

put it this way bro, I use a tool and push up with about 35-45 ft.lbs of torque by hand on that tentioner pully and let it sit for awhile (without pin) with about 10 revolutions and make sure the pin can almost be put back into the hydro tentioner (within millimeters) installed. and i have done this with several builds and customer cars 10 + motors easy. no problems so far, and I will not have any in the future for sure , you only have a problem if its too loose and potential to skip teeth. :hellyeah:

the way I mentioned doing has worked. I used my feeler gauges to set the gap to .121 of a inch which is just shy of what vfaq.com said was the proper gap, I'm gonna try and locate a .150 drill bit so that I can get it exactly where it should be at. wish me luck as I plan on firing the motor this weekend. btw does any know know the part number for the black 6 bolt timing covers?

that would be MD141456 this is for a 6bolt as you asked. im not sure if it is the black one or not

good luck bro, remember too loose is wayy worse then too tight :)
