Im putting on my 1g head this weekend (already have a 6 bolt bottom end)...I was looking at the thermostat housing and it doesnt have the 2nd barb on the back (firewall side) that attaches to the larger hose (1 of two heater core lines i believe) any ideas? Was thinking putting a home depot brass bard in there, but they sre all sae thread.

On a 1g head you need a 1g thermostate housing. Okay now, there are only hoses going to the back of the housing. The front will have a white plastic sensor looking thing, this is not used. Then a single metal tab, that is were you want to plug your clip into, that is the temp sensor for the coolant. Then there is a a plug with two tabs coming off of it, this is also left alone.

The hose set up, while I look at mine is the back side of the thermostate housing there are 2 fittings. The bottom one runs to the bottom heater core fitting at the firewall. Then there is the top that runs to the 6 bolt water pipe that sticks up vertical. And then a hose running from the water pipe end to the other fitting for the heater core.

Now I do not run coolant through my throttle body. If you do then the smaller fitting on the thermostate housing runs to the fitting closest to the drivers side on the throttle body. Then returns to the water pipe tube that is facing up by running another hose from the water pipe to the other throttle body fitting.

Correct. If you are running a 1G head, you will need to switch to a 1G thermo housing, 1G water pipe, and 1G lower radiator hose (or mod your 2g one). There are 2 larger 3/8" fittings in the back of the 1g thermo housing and if you are missing one, the thread size is indeed 3/8" NPT. Substituting in a 3/8"-3/8" brass barbed fitting would work just fine.

I was able to use both 2g radiator hoses, The lower one just ovals between the shifter levers on the trans and and lower intercooler pipe if you are using stock piping and a 16g/14b. But mine did fit and works fine.

YEah I was aware i needed 1g water components. My question was more towards what size barb I should get for the housing.Im not using a 3/8 fitting and messing up the threads, I luckily found a local hydrolic hose supply store that actually had the metric set up.The size is a 6m x 1.5 pitch fyi.
