Alright so after searching for a while here on Tuners I came to realize there was only one other post that talks about this and no one replied to it???
So here is it hopefully this helps someone out.
After pulling my spun rod bearing motor out of my GSX I picked up a 95 GST shell with a good shortblock. The only thing I noticed was the crank sensor was kind of loose. so I went ahead and took it of and replaced it with my old one. ( This is where I should have stopped and asked myself....why is this sensor loose??)
After swapping heads and doing the timing I threw the motor in the GSX and fired her up. As soon as she started to idle I heard that dreaded tapping sound while sitting in the driver's seat. But I was relieved that it didn't sound like rod knock...but it sounded like bad lifter tick or like valves hitting pistons.
Now I knew that my head was good because it worked perfectly before on the original shortblock and i knew my lifter were fine too.
I checked timing by taking out the sparkplugs sticking a long screw driver in cylinder one and lining up the cams to TDC sure as heck the piston was at the top of its stroke and the marks were dead on.
So what is it???
Turns out that after giving the crank a couple turns with a ratchet and using a hose to listen to the motor it seemed that every time is cycled once around I would hear a kind *flink* noise like when you take a thin piece of sheet metal and flick it off you're finger nail it was coming from the lower timing side of the motor.
I then realized that the Crank Plate could be bent causing it to hit against the Crank sensor which would have originally caused the first sensor to become loose.
Now I pray that this shortblock's crank isn't walking and it was just caused by the guy before my ripping out the head and just pulling and cutting belts and wires.
Question to you guys is where can I get a NEW crank plate and sensor??

p.s. sorry for the long story but details are a plus here as I understand.
