Question $300 running 6-bolt longblock! Question inside...

Just picked up a running 6-bolt longblock from one of my buddies for $300 bucks straight up...from the oil pan to intake manifold...hell even the throttle body is still on it. I plan on building it in the near future, probably with the Eagle/ Wiesco combo, ARP hardware, and for the head just swap in my BC 272s and some springs and retainers.

Question is, I have the motor, but its sitting in a shed I have outside. Its covered, but it's still in the hot muggy weather. I was wondering if it will be ok sitting out there for a couple months while I max out the 7-bolt/ want more power. I dont want to have a good motor go bad lol. I have pretty much all of the holes blocked off with paper towel or tape so nothing will get inside. The return line he used is also plugged, so nothing will get into the oil pan. The valve cover I took off for a minute just to check underneath, its back on the motor, but without the bolts holding it down (will throw in a couple to make it tight so nothing gets inside).

What do you guys think? and any other advise on the build would be sweet too!

Thanks,
Brian

if you plan on building it then it could sit in the rain and be fine. this is because you are more likely to have the head and block cleaned up for your build anyways. it will be perfectly fine in your shed...

I would remove the spark plugs and spray some WD40 down in the cylinders and put the plugs back in. Just remember to have the engine as dry as possible. You could always just go out and hand turn it every week to keep it fresh.
