Ok i have a question about this i have call a few people and have got several different answers. I ma in the middle of the six bolt swap, which i have been in the "middle" for around 3 months due to me building a garage and having no where to work. Well anyways, i had everything in a ffew boxes. Thefts broke into my garage and stole one thing, a box that was labeled greddy, which had nothing greddy in it! It had alot of the bolts from my car. I lost all my motor mount bolts which i have since replaced. They also stole one of my axles too a 2g starter plate, alternator and a WG.
Here is my current problem. I was bolting the motor to the tranny, first problem i encourted was the starter plate not lining up, thats when i realized i was trying to use a 6 bolt starter plate. So i got that porblem fixed. Now one you get the block mounted on the shaft in the tranny, it's like the bolt holes don't really want to line up. You have the two bolts holes on top which go in fine, then you have the two on the bottom. The two on the bottom are a little more tricky the front one isn't bad, but the rear one is the one thats giving me the problems, the on by the tranfer case and starter. On the 6 bolt it's made to bolt from the tranny into dowle then into the block and iwth a stock 7 bolt/ 7 bolt tranny it's made to bolt from the block thru the dowle and thread into the tranny. So hte problem i have is you got the thread on the block since it's a six bolt, and you got the thread on the tranny. So i have talk to people and they say that the screw your suppose to use is littler then the threads on the block and bolts into the tranny? is that true or should i drill out the holes on the block so i can fit a bolt into the tranny? Or should i just get a bolt that has threads on the whole thing? I figure the bolt is probably just littler then the six bolt hole and botls into the tranny thread and doesn't use the six bolt threads? If so how big is that bolt and what does it look like? Is it one of the skinny long gold bolts? i have a feeling it is. If so does anyone have a part number? I believe the other three bolts are 14mm is that bolt a 12mm by chance? any help would be appreciated! i have replaced many 6 bolt and 7 bolt motors but never a swap so i'm kind of confused and can't remember if that bolt on the six bolt is smaller?
