First off,

I just replaced my alternator b/c the voltage regulator was blown. Replaced battery as well. I reused the same belt and tightened it not too tight, but enough to stop the squeeling.

I also had my thermostat go out and car overheated the week before. Replaced Thermostat and a busted turbo coolant hose. Checked turbo for shaft play afterwards and all seemed ok.

Now, here are some problems im noticing with my car.

1.) I was at a stop light and i went to go, but the car studdered and shook for about 2-3 seconds, then drove as normal. Kind of felt like when you don't give it enough gas when letting out the clutch (however i gave it plenty of gas).

2.) About 2 minutes after that I was pulling onto my street and i heard a loud whining noise with a few thuds. It honestly sounded like i popped a belt and it was slapping against the inside of my engine bay. The whining noise sounded like when you put your car in reverse and reverse up to about 5k rpm's (high whine sound).

I also looked at my oil dipstick and there appears to be a yellow/greenish color to it that i don't remember my valvoline oil being. Curious, what color does your oil look like IF coolant mixes in with it?

Seeing as i did overheat a few weeks ago, could my head have been warped? i only drove on it for a few minutes (5 maybe) to get off the freeway when it overheated. Since the Thermostat was fixed it hasn't overheated once, nor have i noticed any white smoke.

Why did my car studder, and make those 2 weird noises? Keep in mind i just replaced alternator, thermostat and turbo coolant line, and all seem in good operating condition.

I'm afraid to drive my car anywhere cause it will randomly make this weird noise.

If you overheated there is a chance that your headgasket might be shot.
your oil will be a lime green color if there is coolant in it. Or it might be a dark color with lime green patches in it.

If you warped your head and allowed coolant to get into the oil passages then a simple compression test will tell you if this happened.
If you have a leak down tester, then put it into the cylinders and pop off the radiator cap and look for bubbles this is the easiest way to see if your headgasket is leaking or broken peroid.

Well i took it for a spin around the block and heard some knocking noises.

Pop open the hood and i smell burning oil and theres oil all on the front of my block just above the manifold heat shield, all over the power steering and alternator, on my fan, and all under my engine bay.

I can't tell where the #### its leaking from, however the car still ran strong while i was driving it home. What the #@!^ is going on.

Anyone have any idea? I have NO CLUE and could seriously use some help so i don't encounter further damage. I'm considering having it towed to a shop cause im outta my element dealing with engines like this.

AND i have oil all up and along my dipstick, lightly coated. I can run my finger along the dipstick longways and my finger will be coated in yellow/greenish oil. It doesn't appear to be milky white, nor do i see white smoke from my tailpipe.

I took the oil cap off and smoke came out of the top of the block. Not alot, just a little, but it was definately smoke and burning oil. Still looked lubricated down in there, but who knows whats going on.

I'm gonna look at the Headgasket tomorrow. Anyone have a write up on how to get to the head gasket and what to look for while im at it??? Thanks

Before you tear everything apart you can learn a ton about a car by having a compression test done and a leak down test. IF you cant do it then i recommend putting a quart or more of oil in your car and limping it slowly to the shop or have it towed. Have them run the tests and tell you whats wrong. Thats alot easier than tearing your engine apart and going without a car for weeks to learn that you didnt need to do it. Of course that could tell you your problem for all we know.

If you have any mechanic friends or trusted mechanics ask them to come and look at it on there off day. Or take it over to them and get the "friend" discount

ya i was thinking of just having it towed to the dealer to have them diagnose the problem, then perhaps tow it back and ill fix it myself. I don't have the time ATM to tear it apart.

Anyone else have any ideas/??
