Ok, I have a slight question about this whole CPS, CAS, the difference, and what to do with my build.

As I have continued searching on dsmtuners, I think I understand, but would rather be sure.

My car is a 95 GST. The 7bolt motor blew up, I took it out, and got a built 6bolt block, and fit my 2g head on it. Now, this whole CPS/CAS is confusing to me.

The 2g/7bolt head that I am going to use had a Crankshaft Position Sensor(CPS) when it was on the 7bolt block that I intermittently broke trying to get my intake cam back on after I had taken it out.

Now, with the 6bolt block I am using, I'm going to need the 1g CAS. I scored a 1g Green top CAS up, no problem, and I see that it fits directly on the intake cam. What I don't understand is, if I'm using the 1g CAS, I shouldn't need that CPS, because doesn't the 1g CAS handle that issue?

I plan on getting the wire harness from RRE to make wiring easy, and since I'm doing that, I don't need that CPS under the intake cam on my 2g head right? The 1g CAS should handle that job, and also with the 1g CAS I can advance timing when/if I wish, correct?

Please let me know guys, thanks so much in advance

On the 7 bolt head it was a cas. The cps is on the block it self. But to answer your main question. You want need the cps because the 1g cas will act as teh cas and the cps to the ecu. It wil give hte ecu both readings. But with the green top you may get a cel sooner or later for a random misfire it you do just do a search on it, but if you dont consider yourself lucky. An for your last question you can advace the timing with the 1g cas but be careful doing it because to much advance will cause problems. Have you looked at RRE's 1g in a 2g, It has a good write up on the 1g cas on the 2g

Ok cool, thanks for the answer...

As for the Random Misfire MIL - My car is tuned using the dsmchip, and my new chip already has the Random Misfire MIL fix, and the CAS inversion, so no CEL's for me unless I really have one!

Thanks!
