I did a search, as usual, but have come up with nothing (alongside the search not recognizing 1st, 2nd, or '7' or '6'...whatever)
Anyway, my dilemma has been alive and well for a few months now. Since I let my roommate borrow my car, it has been slowly giving me sure signs of engine wear. This is a bad thing since the rebuilt 7 bolt has less than 4k at this time. To tell the story again-- he drove the car, overheated it, and it seized up. Luckily the balance shaft bearings went out and that seemed to solve it, but everyday I am noticing more and more engine noise at high RPM (roughly between 3k-4k rpm) It sounds to be a rod bearing or something. This is definitely a wound from earlier before. I keep my engine oil changed regularly, check it often, and take great care of the engine all around. This one episode with my roommate has just caused another headache.
So I was searching and found some shortblocks for sale. One was from DSMgraveyard on ebay, and it ran for about 550 USD and has everything I need. The block, crank, pistons). If I were to buy this, what exactly would swap over with ease and what wouldn't?
Will the head fit? the oil pump? water pump?
Pretty much- what parts from the 7 bolt will NOT fit on the 6 bolt shortblock?
I know the flywheel and clutch will give me problems, but what about the bellhousing for the transmission?
If this is too much trouble, I will just search around for a 7 bolt shortblock. I just want something soon so I can rebuild my 7 bolt again.
Thanks for any help.
