I know that the evo 3 had 266 out the box. I am wanting some info from someone who actually had or knows someone who had or has an evo 3 motor who has modded it and what they are doing as far as h/p without building it. Please only post relevant to the thread. Thanks

Yeah, different compresion though us spec 7.8.1 and evo 3 is 9.0.1...looking for evo 3 motors

I don't think you're going to get a lot of replies to this. The type of people that buy used engines, usually aren't the type of people that are looking to(or can afford to) make big power.

Internally it's very similar to a 2g engine, so just base your assumptions from that.

I was actually going to order one of these motors a long time ago, so I did alot of research on them..It turns out that there 7bolts with higher compression pistons and crankwalk aswell. You will be much happier with a 6 bolt in the long run.

EVO Motors: The valve covers of the EVO 1-3 motors will be a kind of titanium color. They are the same as a US 2G motor with nothing fancy. They have the smaller 2G style intake ports, a small runner intake manifold with a larger plenum and a larger throttle body than a 2G motor. Still they are hard to find. Many are from other 4G63 powered cars and can have small 13G sized turbos. They will not bolt into a 1G because there are no provisions for the front roll stopper motor mounts that bolt to the block. Everything in Japan from 94 and up has the front and rear roll stopper motor mounts on the transmission 2G Eclipse style. Many people are running around yapping about how they have an EVO motor in their car. If it bolts into a 1G, it isn't an EVO motor

Actually they are indeed 6bolt. i did a clutch on mine and its a 6bolt...and evo 3's came with a TD05H-16G-7 turbo with 9.0.1 comp and 266 h/p...a substantial difference from a 2g..i dont know if the guy i got it from fabbed up the mounts, but per AMS i have an evo 3 motor...and i think this is for a vr4

Are you saying the Evo 3's are 6 bolts and that they came from VR4's?

No. I was making reference to the link that was added.

SHELDON belive me the evo3 is a 7 bolt motor...the evolution 3 was sold in-
1995-1996 thats when all 4g63 became 7bolts. If you dont belive me go on the evoultion3 fourms. I personally talk to a guy in England that got crankwalk on his 1995 evoultion 3.

Not that im agreeing or disagreeing with you because I don't know, but 6 bolts can walk too.

My freind put into a Evoiii motor into his 2G

He had to make one motor mount fit a little better, but other wise it dropped in

Stupid and bad info. Evo III's and up had 7 bolts. That is the right answer.

Most definetly evo III motors were 7 bolts. How do I know? I have one in my car. Cant tell you what the max capabilities are for the motor. www.evolutionm.net has a lot of good info on the car. I am running a FP 3065 w/all suppporting mods and I plan to push around 30-35 psi when my cars done. I should be able to flow, on a stock head w/cams upwards of 45-50 lbs with no problems. At least that's what im shooting for. With that said I should be around the 500hp range. Im going to push the capabilites of the motor to see. What I have learned is the 9.0:1 c/r pistons and rods in the motor are forged stock. This should enable them to make more power. I want to prove that this motor is in fact stronger then a 6 bolt. There is so much speculation and everyone has something to say. Personally I dont know anyone who has actually tried and tested this motor to it's capabilities. For the sake of argument lets say it's comparable to a 7 bolt USDM spec motor. I should still be able to pull 500 out of it. Weather or not it's gonna run for a prolonged period of time or not is the ?. I have faith that this motor can make some major power. Stock vs. Stock on the evo vs the udsm, the power difference was actually pretty impressive on the 16g w/20 psi. Very responsive and pulled to redline.
