OK Well again. i have been having some leagel problems and i finally got my car back from the tuner on monday. THE CAR STILL OVERHEATS!!! it has a new 2.3 storker new stage V head and new everything: water pump, fluidyne rad, power ent rad cap, 1 stock fan and 1 aftermarket fan, new thermostat, wetter better fluid. I turned on my car and i left it idling for about 10 min, took off the oil cap off and noticed black smoke or steam coming out from there, also i took off the rad cap and noticed the same thing, it seemed to be boiling white smoke. From the exhaust it was burning a little black smoke and the cars temp guage shot straight up. both fans kicked on but i still have no clue what it could be please someone help.

I would make sure the coolant is full, and "burp" the system, take rad. cap and let car idle until air escapes from the system. Also drill 2-3 1/16"-1/8" holes in the edge of the T-stat, this will allow coolant to pass through the system while the T-stat is still closed. Also wire up the driverside fan to run with the pass. side. Make sure there is reg. oil in it and its full.

Where is the white smoke coming from? I think you should do a leakdown test, or at least a compression test, before you do anything else.

im gonna do a leak down test and comp test tomorow and ill let everyone know. Thanks

before i do a comp test what is the compression supposed to be at per cylinder on a stroker motor...???

Results vary from engine to engine, you should be looking for some consistency between the cylinders.

ok guys i did a compression test and from LEFT to RIGHT the numbers are 125,110,110,120. White smoke was coming out the exhaust also now.

The service limit is 133psi, and a healthy 2G 2.0 turbo'd engine should have about 178psi, this will vary between engines, but all the cylinders should be within 14 psi of each other at the max. Your rings are probably worn, and need replacing.
What you will want to do to test and make sure that your rings are 100% the problem, is follow the wet test on this site>>>http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/compression.htm

Dustin

how is it possible that my rings are worn??? the engine has about 100-200 miles on it. ALL new parts and it is a strocker motor. Stage V head from slowboy, cometic head gasket, wiseco piston, eagle rods. It was bulit professionally by HEWES performance in reno nevada and was then handed to the tuner FORCEFED racing in RENO nevada.

Opps my fault, I completey forgot it was a brand new motor. What break in method did you use, and what oil did you use? If you did the motoman break in with reg. oil, your compression should be in the 170-175psi range, it is possible that they didnt seat properly, if you used synthetic oil, or they havent seated all the way if you are doing the baby if break in method. I would do the wet method from the link I provided just to see if the problem is your rings, because the oil in the wet test will coat the cyl. walls, and fill any gaps that the rings aren't covering for a few minutes, if the compression goes up more then 30psi, then the rings haven't seated properly for some reason. If the compression doesnt really go up to much(no more then 5psi or so) then the low compression is being caused from something else.

i havent even drove the car yet, the only person to have been driving the car is FORCEFED RACING. I have no clue how theyve been driving it, but it seems odd to me that as soon as i got the car back its overheating and blowing white smoke and the compression is low. Im gonna do another comp test and then a wet test ill be back with results.

Since you havent driven it yet, I would try doing that, and do a couple 3rd gear pulls with about 15psi of boost. Then do the compression test, and see if anything improves. Also do you have an aftyermarket temp guage or logger?

Dustin

i have an aem eugo and i have a laptop but i have no clue how or what to check. the tuning problems is what i lack in but im sure ill figure it out if you can explain it alittle.. also its on the aem boost selenoid not a manual or electronic one.

Have you checked your timing? Sometimes if the timing is messed up it will cause overheating issues. especially if the tensioner is bad. essentially it keeps the valves closed for too long and causes more heat then their should be. Make sure there isnt too much slack in the belt and make sure timing is on.
DO NOT DO A THIRD GEAR PULL until you find out why its overheating.
