Will EvoIII cams be an upgrade on a 2g?

I searched but couldnt find much on the topic. Since I have a chance of getting some Evo3 cams for a good price, I was just wondering if they would be an upgrade on a 2g?

Thanks
Not too many people know the answer to this, but yes they are. If you can get the cams, try and get the entire head as it's ports are much larger like the 1G's head. What price are you getting by the way because it may be cheaper to go with DKS (yes DKS) cams.

Gorgeous car by the way.

Thanks for the info... Do you think its worth all the work to swap out the cams tho? I can get the cams for 3000yen which is about $30 here.

And thanks for the comment about the car!:thumb:

Yeah, at $30 you can't really go wrong with cams in good condition. It would be a little more work to do a complete headswap, but definately worth it if you can get the head for cheap (depending on your source). Speaking of which, how do you know they are Evo III cams (is your source reliable)?

By the way the DKS 264/272 combo I mentioned earlier is $350 for both intake and exhaust together and are warranted for 1 year. I'm not really trying to plug their product, but for both cams, and a waranty, it's a killer deal and I wouldn't want you to end up with crappy cams if they aren't Evo III's. But I guess you would only be out $30 so go for it.

Be sure to have them checked for straightness as with OHC engines, if the head gets overheated, the cams can be bent and will cause binding.

Well, as of right now I'm in Japan and have been looking at Japanese auctions. So I am 99.9% sure there real evo III cams. But the auction doesnt come with a head, so I dont know if I want to take the time just to install Evo cams. And yeah those DKS cams sound like a pretty good deal. I think I will look into that too.
