Well Yesterday going to work the car dies coasting up to a light :notgood:

crank, sputer, nothing, crank, nothing.............

Push off road, pop hood, crank, nothing...............

Crank, look at exposed timing belt, not moving, inhale, scream, inhale, loud cussing

So I'm guessing my mystery oil leak thats probly either crank or cam seals killed my fairly dry but slightly damp 1 year old timing belt ?

Oh and probly lost my head to right ?

Insert large wad of cash here ------------>$$$

So I guess I need a timing set, upper gasket set, head, water pump, maybe crank seal, metal HG and ARP's, anything else I missed besides a loan ?

Life is like tax's, it won't stop billing me :dsm:

I had a similar thing happen to me a while back. Well at least except my belt was probably the original from 1992!! Did you lose a bunch of belt teeth? I ended up replacing my top end gaskets, timing belt, and 6 bent exaust valves. I did a simple (low tech valve job), cleaned some of the old carbon off the tops of the pistons, fixed a couple other things while I was at it. Didn't have to replace the tensioner or water pump (luckily).... but you definitely should replace all front main seals (cause as is my case when they oil up the belt it starts breaking down the rubber and eventually the teeth couldn't even take the strain of turning the cams over and I lost like 13 teeth). I also repaired a cracked ex manifold, and stripped EX stud while I had that stuff loose. Total I spent about 4-500 bucks (worked at a shop). I don't think you'll need a lone unless a valve head actually broke off and there was a whole in the piston.

Well I havent got much of the motor apart yet, I'm so dejected by the whole thing :(
All the respected shops that I know of are talking 9weeks+ for a rebuilt head, so my summer is practically shot.

This sucks /throws pitty party.

After going through my crappy hayes manuel this is going to be an ordeal for me being the 1st time I've tore this type of motor down, and doing it infront of my townhouse on the ground for lack of a garage. Motor staying in the car btw.

Well I wanted to just swap out the head for simplicity sake and there bout $1000 for a stage 1 + all the other little parts im going to need its easily going to cost me $1500+ if I do all the labor myself.

After my $1500 clutch install, that is alot of $ thats not exactly lying around my house LOL.

Ohwell, I'll get it done, pray I don't make any mistakes and lose what I just fixed :shhh:

If anyone knows where I can get good reliable stage 1, 2g heads on the east coast besides Slowboy in a decent amount of time, please let me know :thumb:
