I have seen it on some cars on google but they never post a write up or pics on how to. I want to cut out the plastic peice in front of the head light on my 1ga so that air flows through there. But I dont want it to also vent into the turn signal part. Can somebody help me out on where to find this.

I did the same mod on my first dsm which was a 90 gsx. Just use a dremel to cut out the rectangular section of the plastic. Then you can use plastic glue on the sides to seal them. And, if you prefer, you can put some steel mesh or something of the sort in front to protect the filter from rocks/dust and that sort of thing. I personally loved the way it looked fwiw.

What did you use to seal the turn signal light? What did you glue to it?

And I know I didnt ask this in the first post but what about the head light cover? That looks cool.

As for the headlight cover, I don't know for sure how to do it, I never did. To seal the sides I used cardboard to make a template for the shape and size I needed, then I used the template over the main piece I cut out of the cover and cut the pieces I needed to ensure the mateial was the same. I used regular wood glue to glue the pieces to the sides and it help up very well. I never noticed any shifting of the inner pieces but the glue may start to yellow over time. I had the car after doing the mod for about 8 months so I can't honestly attest to the longevity of the glue not turning yellow, however, in that 8 month span of time, I did not notice any discoloration. I hope this helps.

Thanks alot it does. Now I just need to find out how to cut the cover.

I have the same done to both of my headlights i used fiberglass to fill it in though. I have trouble posting pics though.

Im curious how functional this really is, it seems with the headlight down that the bulb would block the air from the filter. Maybe with the headlight up it would have a more clear path to the filter. I could be wrong though, I think this weekend ill pull the corner light off and see what it looks like back there.

Yea, youdo need to eaither have the headlight up, or the light out. But I usually drive with them up anyways so that isnt an issue.

Not sure on how to the headlight cover but i did this mod to my car as well as take out the black plastic piece and according to my log it dropped the intake tempature by 10 degrees on the highway......

You could get like a floor vent or something of that nature and cut out the top cover and mold it in. Ive been looking into putting a single vent in the headlight cover for sometime now, maybe ill get off my lasy butt and do it on of these days.

Heres the vents i made for my talon picture compliments of xxliquidx

Why did you do it on the drivers side too? Just for engine bay temps?

to get the vents in the cover you have to stamp it with a louver machine. most hot-rod shops have one. you could probably get it done for under $20

Yeah I proabably will do that also just for temps. Cops dont tell you anything for the black lights? I always wanted to do that too because of my CF hood, but im afraid of getting an asswhole cop. :banghead:

Thanks, good to know. Only problem I am running into is no one around here is willing to modify one single unit. I only have metal stamping shops that deal in large quantities.

I tried to have this done to my covers years ago and couldn't find anyone who would do it either. It looks awesome though!
