Hey guys, I have 2g 95 eclipse gsx. It is having some kind of electrical issue and I am not sure on what it is. Basically if I turn on anything electric like the wipers, heat, lights, etc... It bogs down the engine, sometimes so much that it shuts off, but it seems to start right back up. Also for some reason when I am driving it, when I push in the clutch to shift gears or push it in because I am stopping, it sometimes wants to shut off as well. I am beginning to think that it needs a new alternator or battery but I am unsure if it could be another electrical issue. Advice on this would be greatly appreciated because this has become quite annoying. :ohdamn:

Thanks

Sound like an altenator problem to me as well. Those would be signs of it.

If you ever think that you are having battery problems, you can simply remove your battery and get it tested at an auto parts store that provides battery testing services . Even Wal-Mart does battery testing.

Also, be sure to have your modifications updated on your profile. If not it will be assumed that your vehicle is stock. Making sure the modification segment on your profile is updated helps diagnosing problems not only now, but later on down the road.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I will go and get both the battery and the alternator tested tomorrow. But anyways would a bad alternator also be the cause for the car to sometimes shut off if I push the clutch in and come to a stop?

i was having this same problem, is it only after the car warms up because if i just start it up and take it out it doesnt do it but then again i also did find that my intercooler piping was all jacked up and not together and fixed it but i havent taken it for a ride after its been warmed up to see if it actually fixes it. but now i have the weirdest idle surge problem ever

Yeah mine i start it up and start to drive and when I push in the clutch to slow down or even shift it is wanting to shut off. And it will do it even when the engine is still cold and when the engine is warm. But mine isnt an intercooler problem. Right now my car is stock besides cold air/turbo intake, and blow off valve. So hopefully an alternator cures it.

I believe it is vented i dont know much about it because I bought the car and it had that intake and blow off valve on it already. It has an adjustable knob on the top of it and its right on top of the cald air tube that is running from the throttle body to the waste gate and from there to the turbo and from the turbo to the end with the air filter. It looks like everything is hooked up alright, I just dont know anything about this BOV. It also wants me to shift too soon, like wanting to release that pressure at about 4k RPM, which is sooner than I would like sometimes. And if I dont shift it when it is wanting me to it freaks out. Maybe if I turn that knob on top it would let up on shift time? And do you guys think this might have anything to do with it shutting off?
