Ok my mods are in my profile.I will be completing the fuel system and exhaust system in less than a month(cat and downpipe on the way). With pretty much all the fuel exhaust intake mods a act clutch and flywheel and a few other bolt ons done I want to add cams. My goal is to max out my t25 with bolt ons...minus fmic. So my question is what kind of gains are usually associated with this upgrade? Does it affect the sound of the engine(not trying to rice at all just wondering if itll make it a littl more robust)? Also for these mods what should I set the cam timing at?

Oh I will be using hks 264 intake and 272 exhaust.
Thanks
Andrew

I have 264/272's. I'm not sure about actual power gains, but with my big16g running 22psi I saw a little over 3 lb/min airflow gain. I would assume that's like 20-30whp maybe? I'm sure on your puney t25 you won't see nearly that much. I'd definitely tell you to get a bigger turbo before you mess with cams. There's a definite difference in the sound at idle, it's not real lopey, but I'd guess any person that knows a little about cars can tell it has cams. I havn't really noticed a difference in sound other than idle.

I would guess that you would probably go slower with a cam upgrade and a T25. You should spend your money on a turbo.

never understood you t25 guys.

anyways, i wouldnt go much more agressive than 64/64 on a car geared tward a t25 setup.

good luck with that t2small.

First off I wouldnt loose power at all, second Im am due for a t belt so I figured id get cams done while Im tearing it apart. Plus itll make my b16g upgrade later on that much better. This is to get ready for a b16g setup so no I wont be getting 264/264, itll be 264/272 and I will be maxing the t25 while saving for a b16g with mcuh better waste gate ported and so on. But by no means will I loose power and Im not going t25 its only a means to an end. Thanks for the responses

no its been proven you will loose power with the t25. However since you are doing the timing belt do the cams now and live with the slight power loss. Once you get the bigger turbo the gains wil be worth it.

Even if you are putting on a b16g later the 264 combo is still best. The 272 exhaust cam might make a bit more peak power but area under the curve and timeslips will be better with the 64s.

haha max out the t25, its maxed out from the dealership. that turbo is a waste of time to work with. id go try and put a 14b on or 16g. as for the cams if your using a smaller turbo such as what i named go with 264/272 combo, if you going with a bigger turbo do 272's.

haha t-25

64/64 would be best, but if you want larger for bragging rights, go for it.
