evo 7 engine?

a friend of mine was talking about getting a evo 7 engine for his 1g talon. he said they fit right in and u dont have to changed the ecu. he said he was ordering it from japan. i just want to know if its possible to put a evo 7 engine or any other evo engine into 1gs. i just want to know if this kid is bullsh*ting me. oh yea, he said he was getting the engine for $1700 w/ 27,000 miles on it.

Sounds likie a ricer. hey are not a direct bolt in by anymeans and I have NEVER seen anybody do it. The Evo 4-8 Engines sit totally oppossite than USDM 4g63t. You would have to have custom engine and tranny mounts. I dont see this happenning w/o butt loads of cash put into it.

I highly doubt he could find one for taht low. I have never seen one go for under $4k

the evo4+ engines spin in the wrong direction for our transmissions, I would think that that would be a serious problem.

He most likely getting a Galant VR4 JDM motor aka Cyclone motor. It doesn't just "bolt in." There are many things that have to be swapped to USDM spec. For instance the Jspec flywheel is smaller that the USDM flywheel. Top part of thermostat housing, AC compressor, Intake manifold, O2 Sensor, Waterpipe, Oil filter housing (Unless you have a cooler), and the list goes on. The engine(GVR4) will "bolt in," to a 1G talon, but many parts must be swapped. If he is just getting the cyclone motor, he is getting ripped off so badly. I can get them for $1400 shipped to any where in the U.S. with a AWD tranny and TCase. Lates.
