gettting new motor, what else to get?

i'm getting a new engine put in my 90 talon awd and was looking for some suggestions on what i can do to the motor while it is out of the car that would be cheaper or easier to do with the engine out. i'm thinking more along the lines of external too. i'm not ready to change anything in the internal area just yet. any ideas are welcome, thanks.

Water pump, timing belt, tensioners, etc. What kind of parts are you taking from your previous motor? I'm putting a new head on a friend's car right now and we're going to be putting a new exhaust manifold, turbo, exhaust, etc. on. The car is stock and he is just going to do it now, rather than have to pull it apart later. You should also take the time to clean EVERYTHING! There is nothing better than a PERFECT engine bay.

I'm just kidding.
Eliminate the balance shafts, replace the timing belt accessories, install a new water pump, Knock sensor,Thermostat, loosen the Allen bolts on the oil filter housing ( you can use one for the turbo oil supply and the other one for priming the engine),replace water lines hoses(including heater hoses ). You could replace the rear main seal too at this time when you do the balance shafts.
Don't forget to bleed the coolant system and prime the engine before you start it.

They pretty much hit the spot. Aside from really cleanign the nutts out of the engine and bay itself...maybe (if you are like me) you could consider swapping to a manual rack and/or eliminating the ABS (if yoru car came with it), if not you are lucky and you can enjoy your lsd

Id also consider putting in some polyurethane motor mounts, getting rid of dumb DSM bracketry, emissions crap and misc stuff that will clean up the engine bay.
