I have decided to buy instead of rebuild. I found a big 16G w/o turbine housing at ExtremeTurbo.com for $379. It comes with everything except the turbine housing. Does intalling the turboine housing require any special tools? Alos, is extremeturbo reputable? Anyone have any good or bad experience with them? Thanks.

It's a brand new 16g. It doesn't matter if you buy it from Dave Buschur or Leroy's discount turbo sales. The shops aren't touching the turbo, simply acting as a distributor for them. Extremeturbo is reputable enough for you to get the turbo you are paying for. As far as installing a turbine housing, it's a piece of cake, no special tools are required.

Regards,

On your 14b, loosen the wastegate actuator from the turbo using a 12mm rachet bit (2 bolts). Take off the ring that holds the intake compressor housing to the turbine housing with a 10mm rachet bit. You may need to hit the turbine housing loose but be careful not to damage any fins in the process of taking it off.

Install is reverse of disassembly.

I have a CNC ported 7cm mitsu turbine housing with a 38 mm internal flapper from extreme turbo. If you are interested.

I wish I'd have known that a month ago-- I could've taken that off your hands. I ended up with a regular-size flapper one off eBay. It seems fine so far, but I would've rather had the 38mm.

And yeah, putting that housing on is about the easiest thing I've done with this car.
