I am thinking about boring out my cylinders and putting in aftermarket pistons ... I had a few scratches in my cylinder walls and after having some people look at it it seems that it's not possible to hone it out ... this leaves me with only 1 alternative .. bore it out. I am thinking about doing it, but I'm still wondering about the price.

1) Say if I were to take the engine out and pretty much strip it down as far as it needs to go how much would this cost at an average priced shop?

2) What if I were to just drop the car off somewhere and have a shop take out the motor, bore it and put it back in? Obviously it would be a lot cheaper if I did it myself, but I'm wondering how much of a difference it would make.

3) I have the head off, is it possible to just seperate the engine from the trans and drop it straight down without having to remove the trans again?

My 6 bolt block I brought into my perfomace machinst and they bored it 30 over and cleaned it checked for cracks crank aligment and the deck all for $110. ALthough I had to strip the entire block down to nothing. But with Blancing it and puting new pistons and stuff in the quted me at 550. But thats the price not including the price of the rebuild kit and 95 pistons...I got anyone else? look at this guys face its halrious >>OMG

I have a few buddies out here that have some built dsms. One has a convertable thats pushing 400+ whp and another has a sypder and a hardtop ... hardtop is a gsx with a 6 bolt and then some. Also got a couple buddies that have evos. You should come out here sometime next summer. ( as soon as my car is back up and running ) There should be 3-4 12 sec or faster dsms from around here next summer ... mine being one of them :thumb:
