Well I spun a rod bearing on my 7 bolt and the crank ate the thrust bearing again. My crank walked at 33K bone stock and I got a new short block under warranty. Now at 68K my motor is done again. Time for a 6 Bolt. Here is a pick of how we pulled the motor out. We don't have an engine hoist, just a bunch of tractors.

Oh and I am getting my long block from SlowBoy Racing. I have been dealing with Mike there and I must say he is one of the most knowledgeable DSMers out there. He took the time to answer all my questions. I am looking forward to getting my new motor.:D SBR has some damn good prices and the best customer service.:thumb:

I used a come-a-long attached to the rafters of my garage, fuck engine lifts.

theres a great thread around here all about why you should avoid sbr engines at all costs.

shit ask jdmawd or me why you should avoid sbr all together.

I would think the guys at RRE would be best for ordering a new motor.

Just out of curiosty, why ask JDMAWD about motors at SBR?? Thats one bad story of the performance of an SBR Race engine.. How many satisfied customers are out there about the performance of there engine? Just askin :D

Because in the thread you were describing, jdmawd was discussing a fiend who did have a bad experience...I related it the subject at hand...(sbr motors) not so much jdmawd's turbo problems with sbr... Before you respond, mayeb be sure you understand the post first

i understood the post perfectly. now if i understand your last post perfectly, youre pointing out that not only did jdm have a poor experience with sbr, but his friend did also. correct me if im mistaken.

jdm had a very bad experience with sbr with his turbo. ive had a bad experience with sbr and my turbo. i understand this thread isnt about sbr turbos, rather their motors, but when someone in this thread says they're gonna give sbr a few thousand for something, these two turbo cases are something id want to hear prior to dealing with sbr. aside from these lousy experiences, theres a few threads around here about sbr motors. the motor experiences seem to be sadly equivalent to the turbo experiences. i understand these cases are "rare" (hopefully), but hey, they happen, and im pointing out what happens when they do. with so many different options out there when it comes to motors, turbos, etc, why bother with sbr? doesnt seem like the risk to me.

:talon:

1fast97gsx and greathuskie, please post your experiences. i would love to hear them.

i know..from experience

sbr doesnt use the core you send them , im sure they have blocks already set up i would expect a month and a half

Im not going to get into anymore SBR threads. Run a quick search and all the info is at your finger tips. Just know one thing you *will* be waiting 10-15 weeks *minimum* for your motor. You can select any reason you like.

Good luck.

May I ask how you knwo anything about how long it is going to take to get a motor back from sbr??? I thought you said your friend took his car to get it installed?? I know first hand of cases that sbr motors came back in a few weeks! No company is perfect, how many people out there have had a bad motor experience from other companies?
Since we want to know all options out there, i feel this is a fair question..

Thanks everyone but I did search around. Mike at SBR was the only one that took the time to answer all my questions and set me up with the exact motor that I wanted. He told me about 3 weeks and I will be sure to let you all know when it gets here and how it is.

And as far as people that bash shops....Everyone rags on Hahn Turbos. Well I have a Super 16g and I love the thing. Everyone says they are slow and shitty, well they can shove it. This turbo may not be for everyone but it got me a 12.4 on pump and stock clutch. That was with me half azz tunning it. So I will let you all know how it runs and will follow up in the months to come to let you know how it holds up.

Thats awesome who else did you call so we all know who *else* not to deal with

He told me about 3 weeks a

Yeah i was told the same, i think eveyone is. Even for a simple clutch purchase.

I will be sure to let you all know when it gets here and how it is.

That will be great im glad tuners has time and date stamped threads and posts

as far as people that bash shops

Posting your experience is not basing its just review.

Well I have a Super 16g and I love the thing.

I thought i loved my MUTT level 3 to. Ignorance is bliss, at least for me it was.

So I will let you all know and will follow up in the months to come

There is no question about that.

Thanks everyone but I did search

So did i and i found this
and this
and also this

If you have not made any kind of payment i strongly suggest you dont. But its your dime Good luck.

To conclude here is an actual email that a local guy in my area sent me.

So you're not the only one with SBR problems. I dropped $3700 with them and was told in the end by Mike that he was sick of my crap and not to call him again. He screwed up my 1G 7bolt and it ate two sets of bearings. He took 4 1/2 weeks to get my car back to me instead of "1 to 2 tops". He went $700 over our predetermined budget and I ended up with a 6-bolt 4g63 with oil squirters added to it and a ground crank. It leaks a 6" diameter puddle of oil every time I park it at 600 miles. He forgot the balance shaft inspection bolt which after I replaced it, it didn't fix all the oil leakage. He Left of the timing belt cover and the cam gears ate one of my brand new magnecores. (it still took four days to get my old cover back UPS) His mechanic created a couple hundred scratches in my 6 month old paint job on the driver's fender. He cracked off a corner of my brand new CF hood. There was a bunch of little things such as a throttle cable that was never tightened down. Th!
ere were three blown fuses inside the car when I got it back. Just a bunch of scary stuff. He must think us DC area guys are a bunch of push-overs. I called him every other day after week two and send about 8 emails total before he "was sick of my crap." I wish the forums were more friendly to complaints.

I talked to everyone else that deals with DSMs. I never told you that you shouldn't deal with them. Not sure where the hell you got that idea. I just went with SBR cause they had the right set up and price for me. I wanted Buschur but they wouldn't send me a long block. Magnus is great but I don't have a core and a $700 core charge is too much. All the local guys like Turbotrix are great but all they could get me was the short block. SBR has everything I need from the oil pan to the valve cover.

My mind is made up and I am sticking with SBR. I will take my chances. Thanks for the input but not interested in hearing anymore. You said "Posting your experience is not basing its just review". Well then ok, you posted your review and thats it.

i am havin sbr put a 34mm flapper in my 16g and am orderin some parts just a few lil things but will it take a long ass time u think?>
