Yeah, what he said. I run stock too, seems more than adequate.

BUT, if you want to install it, you basically have 3 different sets of connections to make. The exact colors etc and wiring description can be found at

Here are the 3 different groups of wires you need to install:

1) Battery and ground - These go directly to the battery

2) Clutch switch wiring for a 2 step - go to clutch switches underdash.

3) wires to the coil plugs. There is a 3 pin connector at the coil pack. You want to cut all 3 wires there and splice 6 wires from your MSD in at that point.

BUT, if you want to do it cleaner, I happen to have the 3 pin connectors. If you buy those, and crimp them onto the MSD harness, it will make that part of the wiring a plug n play deal.

As for the Clutch switch wiring for the 2 step, I wouldn't do it for one reason. If you have upgraded your ECU with a chip like TMO or DSMLink(best choice), these already have the 2 step rev limiter function, the MSD 2 step would be unneeded. And if you haven't upgraded your ECU yet, I'd say sell your MSD, and apply that money towards a chip, since its a much more worthwhile mod.

I have an MSD and your best bet for wiring it up is just to follow the directions from the manufacturer. Chances are you will need a tach adapter as well.

Some of the sites have good info on setting up the dip switches which helped me out.

Here are some tips. If your driving and your tach goes dead after driving for 5 mins or your tach does wierd things or doesn't work you need a tach adapter. It's not a loose wire. I had to get one.

Your tach wire is the white wire on the center of the ignitor switch.

All other wiring happens on your stock plug for the coil pack. It's very easy to make the mods there, just three wires you intercept.

Do yourself a favour and hook up the two step as well. It makes for easy launches and boost off the line. Just be careful though, and go slow. You will find the best rpm and launch throttle. I found that 5500rpm stutter with about 75% throttle worked the best for me.

I put it dip switches facing up right in front of my battery. Make sure you battery wires dont touch it. I made that little bracket out of aluminum and painted it black. It screws to the DIS2 and just goes under my strut tower brace to hold it down. You can see my tach adapter above the throttle cable box on the fire wall.

Not to bring back a thread from the dead, but I feel using an MSD DIS-2 on a DSM has its advantages because the stock ignition setup can't do what the DIS-2 can do, not to mention the multiple spark, the 2 stage rev limit, and the 2-step for the clutch.

I will be running my DIS-2 with my MegaSquirt on my stroker build. I've bought everything for my build except the gasket kit, fuel system, FMIC and piping, and BOV. (that I can think of).
