Hey fellas! I got a big problem i recently installed a 3'' o2 and a 3'' downpipe with a Turbosmart 35mm external wastegate and could'nt control boost right after installation.I thought it might be my mbc but that was not the problem,no matter how i turn it it hits 20+psi.So i connected the vaccum hose from the turbo to the lower nipple on the external wastegate and no luck still hitting 20psi so i hooked the vaccum hose from the turbo to the internal wastegate and still no luck.I got no boost leaks,i know that.Could it be that my wastegate actuator arm is stuck open?If it was shut closed it would'nt build any boost and if it was stuck open it would build mad boost right?I tried to move the wastegate actuator arm and it stuck sideways,i tried to straighten it so it can face down but it goes back sideways.Could that be my problem if so how can i fix it with out having to buy a new actuator arm?Should i take it off and turn it some how or what?I really need your help guys.My car runs fine but i cant go full throttle because it hits 20psi and then i let of the gas.Any help would really be appriciated.Later and thanks!

If the wastegate is stuck open, you won't be able to build boost. Too much boost means you're not getting enough through the wastegate.

What does the boost do? Does it jump to 20, or slowly creep there?

Your understanding of how a wastegate works is backwards - You shouldn’t be building boost if your wg is stuck open. Any of the following will cause you to build too much boost: the flapper for the internal gate is stuck closed (pull the internal gate off the actuator arm and make sure that your wastegate flapper moves freely), your gates are broken (test both your gates to see if they open at the pressures they’re supposed to), your o2 housing doesn’t let enough exhaust bypass the turbine (you know this is the case if everything works okay, but you’re still building boost), faulty boost controller (did this work prior to the external setup? take this off and hook the gate directly to vacuum to eliminate the bc being the culprit), vacuum lines are routed wrong (Use the vacuum nipple off the compressor outlet or T-off of the manifold to blow off vacuum line), hole in the vacuum lines (your pressure testing the system should reveal this). Make sure your vacuum lines are as short as possible. Good luck!
