My name is kevin, and i have a ::dsm: 1998 gsx. i wanted to know if anyone knows which cat-back exhaust system has the deepest sound. i do not want a honda p-o-s exhaust :thumbdown . or if any one knows a websight to look at for exhaust reviews. thanks

i've never gotten any wisecracks about my exhaust being too high-pitched; in fact, i've been told my exhaust is a very low sounding grumble.
www.rnrracing.com <~ many people on this site have the 3" turbo-back available here (including myself, i have the 4" tip), and i think everyone who has it will agree that these products are excellent (cat- or turbo-back)

It would be nice to have a site that has alot of the exhaust system and what they are good for, along with a review about them.

With the site I am building maybe we will include something along those lines.

I have a Thermal and love it. Its deep and doesn't get high pitched at all. Also the RNR sounds good.:thumb:

Because your car is a turbo the exhaust will not be high-pitched. Whatever exhaust you get (as long as it's not some huge-ass can muffler) will sound good. I'd recommend a magnaflow muffler. I love mine and they are pretty cheap (price, not quality).

Thanks everyone for the help. But wich of these brands do you think will sound better?
:dsm:
Apex'i Dunk
Apex'i N1
Buschur Racing
HKS Drager
Pacesetter Monza
:dsm:
I don't really know which one to pick. The price isn't that big of a deal, But sound is everything  . Thanks Agian.

Apex'i N1
Will be probably your pick out of those. But personally I still say go with a RNR exhaust also.

i've heard bad things about thermal
What bad things have you heard about thermal? I myself have a thermal cat back and extreme technologies high flow cat and downpipe and i cant say enough good things about them. The system sounds great. A real deep throaty roar.

I have the HKS Carbon-Ti on my TSI, I think the muffler is too big but it sounds awesome pics are in my gallery. I would of gotten Thermal if I didn't get my HKS but I liked the HKS better. I know of a few people locally running Thermal and haven't heard any complaints.

I heard that thermal rusts out quicker then apexi or the hks, 3 people have told me that. But that's just hearsay. So no biggy. I would of bought the HKS if I had the cash to buy it.. but Apexi is great for me.

Ok first of all thermal is stainless steel which means it will not rust. Second I have never read a review where a thermal has rusted but I have for apexi where it rusted from the inside out. I did alot or research before I bought my thermal it sounds awesome and is top quality.

I love my thermal. I gave a guy from work who hates imports - strictly V8's- and he even liked it because it didn't sound like a "ricer"

OK thanks agian everyone for the help. Please keep the information coming, I just want to have a perfect exhaust for me.
But Let me ask this...
What Brand and Model has the deepest sound possible?
When you reply to this message, please write--Brand/Model/Type:thumb:-- so i can tell easy. Thanks Agian Everyone.

I chose RNR for my turbo-back because their prices were good, their products looked pretty good, and of generally positive feedback on this site. I got a 2.5" O2 eliminator turbo-back w/ oval Bullet muffler.
I would not buy from them again - it took 7 weeks for my turbo-back to ship (they kept telling me it would ship at 3 weeks, then 5 weeks...), they put the wrong tip on my muffler, then refused to make good on their screw up, two hangars on the back of the muffler & aft piping were misplaced, and the straight middle section of tubing had to be bent a bit to keep it from rattling on the underside of the car
Also, keep in mind - if you want to be able to disconnect your downpipe from the rest of the exhaust, you'll have to pay to have bolt-up flanges welded on the downpipe & cat.
All-in-all, it cost me $100 at my local shop to have my exhaust system installed (with the bolt-up flanges) correctly. RNR is not that great of a deal....you generally get what you pay for.
The sound is deep & not too loud. I heard the 18" Magnaflows are pretty nice, and probably a bit quieter, too - I may weld on a Magnaflow in the future.

Go with the Thermal. Perfect in every way. The sound is hard to describe because it's as though there is none, just a deep, mellow rumble that permeates the air. It's only loud from 2000 - 3000rpms, above and below that it's fairly quiet. I got mine for $570.

I have a GReddy EVo exhaust and I have mixed feelings about. I love the performance and the look and especially the sound. (Sounds very deep and low, not ricey) But I do not like the design. My stock exhaust piping ran over the rear axle, and GReddy assured me the EVO would too. But it didnt. Now I have a 3" pipe ran below my axle and it scrapes and drags on every uneven road and everything over 1" tall. Other than that, I like it alot. I would also reccomane getting a Thermal R&D. They are excellent exhausts. They will probably give the most HP, but also be the loudest.
