i like to do things a little different and the cyclone intake manifold caught my eye.

once i have a complete manifold and solenoid what else will i need to get to make it work everywhere i look i can't find good details i would appreciate any help that could be offered

also what is this little black box i keep hearing about??

i think the cyclone intake mani is more for part throttle is what i heard, the normal ones are better,(hopefully some can back me up here with data!) and i highly doubt you have to run a "jdm" ecu because it has nothing to do with ecu's, i run a 1g extrude honed with a 2g ecu.

could i have the solenoid open the butterflies at a preset boost level with some kind of a mbc??

here is how the Cyclone manifold is suppose to opperate.

under part throttle and low bost less than ~7-9PSI the seconadary runners stay closed, under high boost greater than 7-9PSi the butterflys kick open allowing for greatter flow.

why is it setup this way?
it creates the best of both worlds of 2V SOHC(low end torque) and 4V DOHC(topend HP)

under part throttle and low boost the air is basically only entering the CC via 1 valve, this creates a swirling efect like a 2V SOHC or 2V pushrod which promotes higher burn efficency and greater exhuast pressure. which creates a decent little kick in low end torque, and since the exhuast gasses have more energy from this setup it's able to spool teh turbo up a bit quicker :D

I know this topic is kinda old>> but I was looking through and figured I'd reply... ;)

My friend here in Atlanta has the cyclone intake manifold(whole engine actually) installed in his '92 Galant VR4>> it went in fine. And it seems to be working great!

Only problem I've really heard is that the US spec A/C compressor doesn't fit with the cyclone intake manifold. It fit fine on the Galant(had to use the US mounting bracket)> but they are slightly different from the E/T/L engine bays.
