Edmonton,
k well i have been looking at getting a gm maf for a while because i want to vent and because i dont want to hook up an afc and stuff because i dont have money for SERIOUS mods. anyways, i am wondering how easy the maf goes in? it just hooks up into my intake that i can buy from dejon right? i also noticed the ongreenperformance has it on sale right now. anyone know where the best place to get it and where i can find EXACT instructions on install, and ideas onw how good it is to tune fuel with. thanks guys. wont be the first time you've saved me.

My girlfriend could have installed it on my car..........
I am not using blow through because I dont want to remove the sensor all the time to clean it! All turbos blow a bit of oil which collects on the hot wire in the sensor and it need to be cleaned from time to time......

My buddy has it on his car and from time to time it will run shity then he needs to clean it.........

I bought my from ramchargers and got the sensor off dsmtrader for 40.00

real easy to tune with......

good luck

k so the intsall is real easy? just into one of the dejontool intakes? and what about using the maf to tune fuel? does anyone have closeup pics of the maf installed? and what is an EXACT list of things i will need to get this setupd to work, and whats the cheapest place? i know that djeontool has the list in shit, but i just wana be 100% certain. thanks.

k i notice that ongreenperformace.com has the 3" gm mas for only 75 bucks, and dejontool has it for 150. same item? is there anywhere i can pick up a cheap translator? and does hooking up a gm mas eliminate my entire mas?

Get you a used maf. You can get it on ebay for 20-40. Hollywood performance sells the translator for 189. But for blow thru you will spend a lot on the custom IC pipes. You could probably say the pipes will cost an extra 200, but the install still isnt hard in blow by mode. If you already have a 2.5 in. IC pipe you can cut it and get two couplers that go from 2.5 to 3 and hook it up that will save you a couple hundred dollars. hope that helps

i do have a 2.5 inch uicp but to intall this i would have to chop the pipes right? and this would allow me to vent? and what about my stock intake? also... there is no way to hook up thus into the intake? this is all dont in the uicp?

What are you doing up this late? I thought I was the only one with a sleeping disorder? Anyway, yes, you would have to chop the pipes if you want to save money. Let me put this a little more simple. If you go with blow thru you got to shorten the IC pipe, this is done after the blow off valve so it measures everything after it blows off. which lets you vent. About the intake, you can just take your mas out of the air can and leave the filter on it. and about you asking about if this can ONLY be done in blow thru mode. No, it can be done in draw thru which is putting the GM maf in place of your factory mas and controlling it from there. This is the cheapest way, but you can not vent becuase you are not measuring the air after the blow off valve.

k so the stock mas is comletely removed then? good, thats what i was confused about. and what about tuning it? and why do i need a used mas or whatever you said from the junk yard?

k so whats cheaper? and why pick one up from the junkyard? im a little confused still? you want me to just pick up a stock mas? but i thought i wont be using one?so step by step what do you reccomend i do, and who do i buy everything from. heres what i think i have to do. i have to buy a gm maf? right? then a intake with no bov dump tube? right? then a maf translator? then cut my uicp after the bov clower to the tb. then hook up the gm maf to the maf translator and then tune? and im done?
p.s whats the diff between mas? maf? maft? and all the abbrevations?

NO, do not pick up a stock mas. When you buy the maf translator you will be replacing it.I will answer your questions in order
1: It will be cheaper if you buy the GM maf used(junkyard or ebay) You can find them for 30-40 dollars. If you buy the maf new it will probably cost 100+. You can buy the Translator new for 189 from www.hollywoodperformance.com
2: yes, you have to buy a GM maf,maf translator(maft), intake pipe and filter... This is in draw thru mode in which you can not vent your blow off valve to the atmosphere, If you want to vent you have to get a custom made Upper IC pipe which cost around 200 more dollars OR you could shorten your pipes yourself and get 2.5 to 3" reducers and make blow thru mode yourself.
So,
draw thru
intake pipe with BOV tube
filter
GM maf
maftranslator

Blow thru
all of the above except intake with no BOV tube and custom IC pipe.

Your stock MAS will be Replaced by the GM maf.Draw thru will be just putting the GM maf in the same place as your stock MAS. Blow thru will be putting the Gm maf in the upper IC pipe and having nothing on the intake pipe but a filter. The maf translator comes with instructions... It will tell you the whole install which is pretty easy. Jusy plug two plugs in and attach one wire tap to your CAS.

Interesting.

Sounds like he either still has the PCV/VC vent crap hooked up, or has a leaky turbo.

Mine hasn't gotten any oil in it in the 5k or so miles I've had it on.

That sucks for him though, bummer.

The link you are trying to give to him is this...

www.hollywoodperformanceusa.com . Has good prices, Ive talked to Tom personally but it took over a month to get my complete blow through setup from him which I still havent got, I jus got word that it was gonna get shipped from him like a day or two ago!! Not his fault though, the person he deals with to get the piping took a long time to ship to him, or else I believe would have been here sooner. I cant wait to get this setup, I heard a lot of good things about the GM MAFT setup. I got the whole thing for a good price! Talk to Tom hes a cool guy! :thumb:

i got my translator through ramchargers for $200.00! i'm sure it might be cheaper somewhere else, but i thought the best place to buy it from was from the designers themselfs! also, i'm running a blow through set-up and i love it! at first it was hard to tune but with time and good ole dsm link all things are possible!

good luck with your set up! i think you'll be impressed!
