I just bought this on EBAY for 660 bucks. Whadya think?

Description:This intercooler kit fits 95-99 Mitsubishi eclipses running a 14b or 16g style turbo. The intercooler is designed to fill the bumper opening of the 97-99 eclipses perfectly, which looks killer and allows maximum usage of the core. The intercooler is a high efficiency modine core. Internal fins make it superior to all extruded tube and fin cores and round tubes allow more airflow to the radiator than a bar and plate IC with square tube. This kit easily supports 500 hp on pump gas. It comes with comes with 2 ½ continuous mandrel IC tubes. (Not cut and welded U bends) The blow off valve flange is designed to fit the greddy type S or 1 Gen BOV. Kit also included silicon fittings and stainless T-bar clamps. This is one of the only kits for the eclipse that allows you to retain your core support and stock fog lights.

that is nice.....especially for the price....wish i had a front mount.......

What are the dimensions of that core? What brand is it? Looks like a good buy for the price. Get it installed yet? Post install pics. I'm interested to see how it looks. Good luck with it.

hate to break it to you, but i bet that ic flows like shit.

Uhh yeah. It looks like it's 20-24" x 6" x 2" which is pretty darn small, though better than the stock intercooler. It's also tube and fin which is not nearly as efficient as bar & plate at all. Bar and plate alows air to flow through it just the same as tube and fin does, thats nonsense.

However for $660 with pipes thats a descent deal on that cooler. THe pipes look good and is flanged for a greddy or 1g which is nice. All said and done, thats better than stock and a deacent deal. It will be perfectly fine for a small turbo like a 16G.

size has nothing to do with anything.

size Does have something to do with it; if you have a b16g and some other mods, that FMIC will heatsoak pretty damn fast trust me... size matters

I like the fact that I can keep my A/C, and I don't have to worry about coolant temps.. I plan on shooting for 340 to 350 crank horse power. Do you think this core will support that?

The only thing that would worry me is that the end tanks are a little small and would not distribute the flow acrossed the whole thing as efficiently as possible, but of course it's a lot cheaper than a normal one. It should out do the stocker for sure.

You know he has a point...Look at the end tanks...SMALL. Let us know if you feel a difference...

eh endtanks could be suspect. i wasnt even referring to them though. i was just worried about the core.

its not a 2-216 or a greddy core or whatever, its a ebay core. you think the seller on ebay cares about the intercooler, let alone knows anything about it? it could be a shiny radiator core for all we know.

i cannot stand ebay. ebay sellers make their items look great, and then people buy em up, thinking theyre sweet because "its a front mount" "the piping is mandrel bent" and "its chrome". no where in the auction does it say ANYTHING about performance. just the typical "this will give you huge amounts of power" "this will take 500hp" and "this looks killer". do me a favor and ask the seller what cfm this flows, i need some entertainment, tia.

anyone in here that tried to guess how it performed based on size should be ashamed. this thread has made me sick. i cannot believe some of the comments in here.

i suppose this ic is perfect for the original poster/buyer. all they were interested in was looks, not performance. thats sweet if thats what youre after, but im not partial to rice.

Yeah thats true, My intercooler was an EBAY item but I researched it before buying it. I got an HKS core and fat end tanks, and I did notice an difference.

dsmturboawd is right ... it even says the intercooler will fill the opening of the 97-99 front ends perfectly ... I think it needs to be at least .5" - 1" taller to fill the space. ( my 97 bumper measures around 7" in the center with the black strip still on the bumper )

My core is 26Lx5.5Hx3W...With 2 1/2 in/outlets....There is a gradual slant from the 2 1/2 openings to the height of the IC..So there is a sort of triangular shape to assist flow. My point is that the end tanks need to direct the flow of air to the channels leading through the intercooler...Most quality intercoolers have a shape that assists the flow of air...This one looks like the in/outlets enter low on the IC and there is not a flowing shape to the end tanks...But hell I'm pretty new at this and I may be wrong. Either way it's gonna cool better than stock. Best of luck...:dsm:

I just bought this one

25x7x 2-7/8" core. Thats about the size of most shops street FMIC's.

When it gets here its DIY short route pipe time.

Here's a pic of it installed on a car with the '97-'99 type bumper cover. Look's like your right.

Here's a pic of the I/C installed. Took the car out and ran it pretty hard. The inlet of the I/C was hot, outlet was cool to the touch ( approx. 70 degrees). Local weather was 70 degrees.
