What problem? 2G intake Mani on 1G head

The reason I ask is because I have a Magnus Intake for a 2g. But before I could install it, I bent a valve in my 2G head. I got a 2G head port matched for a 1G intake.
 
Not to mention the gasket will be mismatched and could possibly leak.

You hit the nail on the head. :thumb: The car actually will not run. Well it will run, but it will idle like a Harley. There isnt physically enough flanger there to cover the 1g head ports. The flange on the magnus may not be the same size. If you do try it, be sure to check for leaks first. Jsut put the 1g gasket on it. In my case, I could look right into the port with the 2g manifold bolted to a 1g head. ;)

Also keep in mind that having a big sudden increase in port size (right after the gasket) doesnt do much for flow...
 
i know you cant put a 2g intake on a 1g head without problems but what about putting a 1g intake on a stock 2g head? would there be too much space the other way? just wonderin
 
Perhaps you got that backwards ;) I just said above that if you put a 2g manifold on a 1g head the motor will not run properly. You CAN put a 1g manifold on a 2g head, people have been doing this for a loong time. :) But of course then the smaller ports of the 2g head make a massive lip there that needs to be removed (gasket matched essentially)
 
ok i understood what you said i just didnt know if it could be done in reverse. so if you put a 1g intake on a 2g head you need to put a 1g gasket to close up any leak space...am i understandin you correctly because i plan on doing this i just wanna make sure that this is right first.
