I am wanting to rebuild my engine, but want to do it the right way I have a 7-bolt motor. What am I going to need for the top and bottom half of the engine when wanting a low 11 sec. car What is the cheapest yet the best parts for this. and about how much for just the hardware?

thanks

Big question, but its late and I have nothing else to do.

First of all, you have to start with a 6 bolt motor. You can keep your 2G head and have it ported ( and have SS valves, springs and Ti retainers ) or just get a 1G head to go with it.

( Good places for info on the 1g/2g swap )

Now for internals. Go for Eagle H-beam rods ( nice and strong but cheap also ) with Wiseco 9:1 pistons. Maybe you could consider ceramic coating for the pistons to keep things safe. Of course new bearings and machine work are necessary, but I'll leave that to you.

Crower springs and retainers are a good place to start for the head. Just a mild port & polish on a 1G head to cure factory flashings and OEM flaws should be good for 11s, even 10s. HKS camshafts are the only way to go, either 264/272 or all 272s.

ARP bolts are mandatory for any rebuild. A Mitsu metal headgasket with a light spray from a copper sealant should do the trick. A Magnus sheet metal intake manifold would be a good way to top things off, while a DNP SS tubular header would be a great upgrade from the stock unit.

Good luck!

I also see you have a 95 DSM, which means you most likely have an EPROM ECU. This allows you to have it socketted and run a DSMlink fuel managment and datalogging unit. This whole setup would actually be good for 10s, but it all depends on what you do with it and how well you can drive. :thumb:
