was up guys, im currantly tring to put a 6 bolt in my car with my 2g head. my first ? is how hard is this to do, i know you have to drill new stud holes but is that it. im either buy my block from slowboy or bj does anyone know what else ill need other then the block and a 6 bolt flywheel.

o also should i get the stage 2 from slowboy, this is ross pistons and eagle rods, or shoudl i get the stage 1 that is 91 big rods and ross pistons, im looking for mid 11's only maybe low 11's, this will be all with a 50 trim turbo, and maybe nitrous later on in the future. or will a completely stock 1g motor do all this for me thanks

your also going to need a 6 bolt trans that will bolt up to the 6 bolt block

but your pretty much just wasting your time doing this, a 2g head has such small ports that there isnt really any point to buying a good 6 bolt block from slowboy and sticking a crappy head on it. 1g heads can be bought for fairly cheap and pretty easy to come by, and you can easily find the tb and intake mani for the 1g head for around 100-150

i actualy have a whole 1g head swap sitting at the gas station down the street, leftovers from my old engine and the jdm one that wil be here within a week. head came off for a headgasket change and there were 3 bent rods in the bottom end(block scared, underside of pistons ate up), so i just bought a new engine.
the head is in good working condition and is complete with cams and everything else, my car was still running fine when it came off, it just needs to be decked flat for a new head gasket
ill be happy to sell it to you if you want to pay shipping for it

im doing the same swap you are. As far as the head goes thats all you need to do. But in order to do the swap there is a few more things you have to do. Cam angle sensor, fabricate motor mount, 6 bolt flywheel, 6 bolt timing belt components, 6 bolt water pump.....just to name a few....check this out, it tell you what you need to do....

http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/1g2g.asp

here is a full parts list......

1G CAS (91-92 Optical Effect, 93-94 Hall Effect)
1G Oil Cooler (90-92 MD 157670 6bolt water cooled oil cooler)
1G Water Pump
1G Oil Pump/Front Case
1G Timing Belt necessities
2G Engine mount (modified) use 2G engine mount trimmed, with 1G tensioner arm
1G Timing Belt Covers (modified)
1G 90-92 6-bolt block (with whatever internals)
1G 6-bolt Flywheel
2G Starter Mounting bracket
1G Water Pipe
1G lower radiator hose
1G Thermostat housing/ Water Neck
1G 6-bolt oil pan Balance shafts (remove them or keep em, its up to you, we take them out)
2G Alternator
2G Power Steering Pump
2G A/C 2G Belts

the trans is the same on the 1g and 2g......ive done it.....no need to buy a 1st gen trans....they both work.

If you keep reading down Marco's site you will notice this.

Swap 2G ISC with 1G Throttle body 1G Coil pack and bracket
1G Head with internals
1G Intake manifold with stock 2G knock sensor
Reuse 2G sensor including oil, water temp, etc.
2G fuel rail to accommodate 2G Fuel Pressure Regulator
2G MAP sensor either in Intake Mani or T-d off of Brake booster Vac line
Relocate power transistor mount

Those are the pieces you need to know if your putting a 1G motor into your 2g. All the parts listed above assume your getting a bare block. If you buy a JDM motor no trans you will have all that stuff already. Just convert it to run in a 2g car and if your feeling lucky do a Mitsu Metal HG and ARP studs and a new timing belt tensioner and waterpump and your good to go.

ya, i could get a completely stock jdm motor for 1650, but i dont know if that will hold up for what i want. what i was thinking of is gettting a stage 2 block from slowboy and a stage 3 head from them then getting the magnus motorsports install kit but this is alot of stuff i have to get. then i was thinking of just getting the stage 2 block and putting my 2g head that is mild ported on the 6 bolt. so im in a little hole and tring to figure out what i am doing. also like i said before im daily driven and looking for mid 11's at the track on a 50 trim and maybe nitrous later. do you have any suggestions for a engine setup for this e/t i want. im pretty sure i want i want but just need more options.

well ams just told me all i need to do to get my 2g head on a 6 bolt is 6 bolt head studs and a 6 bolt flywheel, sounds good to me.

mite send my head to bj to get a stage 3 head job at the same time, instead of my crappy mild ported and polished head

I appoligize for the misunderstanding. To make a 2g head work on a 6 bolt block takes a lot. I was simply stating what it took to bolt the head to the block.......my fault. a differnt intake, MAP sensor and a slew of other things are required. Once again I sincerely appoligize for the miscomunication on My part

Eric

its cool eric i though it need alot more, and that is a much better price to swap the motors, 2100 was alot LOL

if you want 11's or whatever, a stock 6 bolt will do it fine. then again, a stock 7 bolt will get you there too.

incorrect.

sounds like someone needs to do more research on heads.

LOL about the trans thing and yes i know the stock motor will do it but how safe and how long, im running my stock 7 bolt to 12 flat all day and im sure it will go soon with 123k on it

search for the guy with the high mileage stock 6 bolt running 493whp and making more than 60+ runs aside from daily driving. he'll give you a better answer about "saftey" than i can. ;) hes on here or talk somewhere.

your 7 bolt is fine im sure. do a compression check. dont worry about a new motor until your motor blows due to poor tuning.

ya thats what i plan on doing, as for poor tuning i think i have good tuning ams does it

then youre fine. ive seen stock 7 bolts go to 450whp with no problem. when the motors blow, unless its from dumb failures, its due to poor tuning.

rock that 7 bolt for all its worth. if it blows, pick up a 6 bolt for a couple hundred.

well i planed on putting a built head on anways but i guess ill just wait, as for the engine i think im doing 1g rods with ross pistons or 91 rods and 95 pistons. cheaper and easier, plus im only looking for high 11's and thats about 420 hp on a awd

o and with my dsmlink im sure it will be even safer sense ill know if im knocking or not

why would u need to put a different intake, mas, ect....on a 2nd gen head with a 6 bolt block......if he has a 2g car he doesnt have to do anything but drill out the head bolt holes, as far as the head goes. Now if he has a 2g car and went with a 1g head, then he would have to change the intake and mas...ect.....what r u talking about AMS stampy??
