Resolved Is there a difference in 7 bolt flywheel bolts and 6 bolt flywheel bolts?

I think you just answered the most obvious question, the number of bolts that hold it on. It simply wont work.

They are also different lengths: the 6-bolt flywheel bolts are 22.5mm long where the 7-bolt flywheel bolts are 21.2mm long. So a 6-bolt can use 7-bolt hardware but it may not be a great idea to use 6-bolt hardware on a 7-bolt.

yes i know i need 7 bolts not 6. What I am asking is,are there a difference between the early 6 bolt and the 7 bolt style bolts? Or did they just use the same bolts but 7 of them instead of 6?

Thanks for the info!

I think he is asking about the actual bolts that you torque the flywheel on to the end of the crank.

As far as I could tell while doing my six-bolt swap, they're exactly the same bolts.

They're the same, I just used the best ones I could pick out of the 13 I had when I went 6-bolt.
