two 1.5 dual tips?

Ok I really hate the big coffee can tips on n1 mufflers and thermals >_<... anyways i will get to the point would u have the same performance if u have full 3 inch piping exiting out of two 1.5dual inch muffler instead of the 3 inch tip...

1.5+1.5=3inch

In terms of flow you should compare the areas not the diameters.
