ok i have a 90gsx with a boost controler and a full apexi turbo back n1 exhaust this has happened 3 times. to day i was driving and i went to pass someone and around 4500 the turbo cut out then around 4900-5000rpm it slams back in. my boost it 13psi and i am running 93, it was about 29 out. my air to fuel was running the stick range and didnt move one bit. my foot was to the floor. any explanations?

I wouldnt suugest cutting the turbo out. I would use tools and remove it properly. Cutting it out will just leads to problems.

Doesn't sound like fuel cut to me. If it was fuel cut, you wouldn't have been able to keep accelerating.

it some times when it feals like it the engian will still rev but there will only be about 6 psi going into it. it sounds like the turbo does not work but does a little.

can i ask if you have an aftermarket fuel pump or bigger injectors? Because if you are running 13 pounds of boost, your stock fuel pump may not be able to keep up with the amount of air goin into the engine, this would cause your engine to run lean.

By air to fuel I assume you mean O2 sensor readings (as in air fuel ratio -AFR-), either gauge or logged?

If he ran lean, his AFR would have dropped, and if he had fuel cut or any kind of missfire, the oxygen in the exhaust stream would have also dropped the afr readings. My guess is that the timing got pulled for some reason (mad knock?), but it's just a guess whith what limited info I have. Try logging it...

Do you actually see a decrease in boost pressure during this period? Or does the car just lack power?

Mine will do this if I use crappy gas - the boost doesn't decease, but the car loses power because the ECU pulls timing due to a high knock count.

and this is why you ALWAYS run premium fuel in your turboed sports car.... 7.8+13psi equals alot more compression than you think :thumb:

i dont have bigger injectors of fuel pump(comming at xmas) yet but i thought the stock one could handle upto 15psi easaly

They should, but you have to remember if you have never changed your pump its amlost 13 years old right...they do wear out man...Fact of life...
