Race Motors?

I was browsing some options earlier, and came across tthe race motors in the parts catalog. whats the deal with these? are they worth it? i mean, 3k for a buschur motor seems reasonable, when for 2500 i can have a stock one again...i just crosses 100k of hard miles, and im thinking ahead hewre. does anyone know what they come with when they imply "motor"? what do you get as far as internals and heads go. all there, or separate?

It all depends, if your looking at a longblock it will have a complete a complete block + head. Short blocks are just the block. You can get a rebuilt motor for less than 2500. I am thinking about building one and its gonna cost no more than 1k.

Most are sold as just shortblocks, no head.

A shortblock includes block, crank, rods, pistons, bs elimination all put together.

Some of the misc things it doesnt include that you will need to get are a new oil pump/front case, water pump, timing belt kit, etc.

I see...so in the long run I'm looking to spend upwards to 10k just to get this race motor, when I can get a stock new one for 2500 or so, and throw all of my bolt ons fr4om there, and it will be fine, if so, i guess that works.

how do you figure 3k for the motor plus a couple other things is 10k, your math seems flawed

you have like less then a grand of other parts you need

I believe a stock 6 bolt shortblock through Mitsu is ~$1700. Probly a little cheaper through Conicelli.

You can build a short block with 2g pistons for right at or under a grand. That includes all seals and gaskets, pistons and machine work.
