I had a question i plan on selling my 16g and going with a 50 trim but i was wondering will my engine handle the power i am going to us the 2g pistons on 1g rods. I also am using arp head bolts so what do you guys think.....

It is well documented in the 100s of posts about this that the setup is good for around 450hp.

Yes it should be fine. Not doubting your tuning ability, but the average 50 trim setup isn't going to make 450 whp.

why would you do 1st gen rods on 2g pistons i think that is the most stupid setup ever

why not go aftermarket so it an hold 500 plus horses

I think you should research a little before spouting off ignoratnt comments. Of course forged rods and pistons would be better but not everyone can afford them. 2g pistons on 1g rods are a proven, cost effective alternative.

Because 500+ HP is soooo easy on a 50 trim...

2g pistons and 1g rods are perfect for your application.

just a tip here, get your 1g rods shot peened for safe measure. also, you may be better off just to stick with your stock pistons if you have a set in good condition, those with some total seal rings, nice setup.

Yea i am going to do the 1g rods/2 pistons cause i am low on cash and i still go to get Dsm Link and stuff.....and for the jackass why dont you go fly a kite........

well that was my point, you're getting so little of a gain,if you're low on cash the 2g pistons are'nt worth it.

2g piston/1g rods are strong. I haven't seen anyone who's actually melted a piston or bent a rod from too much power. Only things that have happened have happened becuase of tuner error. A local just made 568 on 2g pistons/1g rods, so I think it'll be plenty for that tiny PTE 50. The benefit of 2g pistons is well worth it over the 7.8:1 c/r 1g pistons. Spoolup and power at same boost levels are some thing that been seen to be a benefit for the little bit more of cost of the 2g pistons.

ok i have seen 5 people shoot a piston right through the block and the rod was just hanging....... if your that low on cash why dont you just save a little more and go with something more reliable i mean you have to remember they are still STOCK rods they can only handle so much

Believe what you want. Facts are facts. The combination is proven. Shifting from 3rd to 2nd at redline can do that to any rod/piston.
