is a 60-1 over kill on a gst ??

trust me you will ... my friend ran 12.8 at 116 because he had no traction through 1, 2, and most of 3. Once it hooked the car rocketed forward and got him the crazy trap speed. That turbo and some slicks, not to mention a lot of fuel and a good intercooler and its a badass setup. But with street tires ... good luck.

lots of hondas run that turbo and have good success...my friend has a 60-1 on his turbo gsr hatchback and pulled 2.0 60' times on street tires and ran over 120 in the 1/4...i know its not an exact comparison with a fwd dsm and honda but i would say if your car is set up right it would work good...especially if you like to race from a roll...you can also get a dual stage type boost controller or a large a/r so it doesny spool as quick and the obvious, slicks...theres ways to get around no traction if you have the money

slower spool would just delay his traction issues with that turbo...so I wouldn't recommend getting a bigger a/r

but will you spin the first 3? Umm...YES...I spin the first two gears with a big16g...I would be surprised with how well it gripped in 4th with that monster for a turbo.

And is it overkill...not really...its a lot of fun...just not really a street car anymore.

I wouldn't go over a 50trim turbo for street use anyway, but in a GST.. maybe even smaller.. but thats just me.. nothing like lighting them up in 4th though... would be fairly sure you could if you realy tried to...

just watch out for wheel hop.. things start breaking when that happens... things breaking are not good.:thumb:

hehe...yeh...I was off the internet for a while...like a couple hours...and the page never loaded and took me to that webmaster thing...so I just pressed back and reposted (cause I thought it wasn't there)...but now I saw...and deleted..haha:p

If you want big power, go for it! It's not like you're not allowed to make big power just because you have FWD, right? Just make sure you do a few things to help the car hook up, like good tires, LSD, and remove some weight from behind the rear wheels.

Just think of Tim the tool man Taylor. The scary part is when you get used to the power and it isn't enough anymoreOMG

I think a 60-1 would keep anyone on this site happy for a while. Well maybe not shep, but otherwise. :thumb:

I say go for it if you want to have a highway monster. (hmm wonder how a setup like that would compair to a supra, if you had a built head)

I was going to do the same thing with my FWD because alot of the poeple arounf here like to race from a drop on the freeway. I was going to go with a 50 trim becasue it is more pump gas friendly, but the idea was the same. Turn up the boost with race gas and go supra hunting.

If you get an LSD you should be fine. As an example of what an open front diff, and a lot of power can do I will tell you. This year I broke one of my axles during an event, so I dropped the driveshaft and transfer case, and took out my other rear axle. This made the car FWD, previously to this in AWD the car did something like an 11.6@126mph. I then did a 13.7@117mph (I had never driven a FWD before, at least one with 600hp), then got it down to a 13.4@116mph, and finally a 13.1@118mph.

So just be careful, get a LSD, and some good tires (see drag radials), and you should be alright. That was with a GT35R, and I was fighting the car the whole time. As for lighting up forth, not that badly with a 60-1. When I had the car FWD last year, with Toyo's, and 500whp, it would blaze third (as in rolling burnout), but forth it would just kinda skip across the road, it would break traction, get it back, break it, etc.

Just be careful!
