2G pistons in 1G?

hey, im planning on a rebuild and know we 1g guys can put the higher compression 2g pistons. what do we need to do to the rods exactly? will your every day auto machine shop do it? and finally, does the performance get very much affected: more power, faster response, more knock...

Any machine shop should be able to do it. You should get a little quicker spool-up and a little better throttle response. Shouldn't really have a problem with knock unless you up the boost with out tuning I think.

I have 2g pistons in my car. I cant give any feedback since they came with the car. I have had no problems.

I have the 2nd gen pistons. I didn't do any of the work of putting them in (bought the engine w/ em).

My car is basically stock, and I don't notice the difference between the regular pistons and these.

how about anybody with the evo pistons, is it basically the same as the 2g pistons as far as "installation?"(/performance)

isn't the compression on the EVO pistons 8.8:1?

the exact same machining work will be needed.
they are a bit higher compression. 8.7 or 8.8:1....can't quite remeber.
thats a whole compression point over stock 1g's which should help for spool up as well as power! be prepared to tune tho.......if you have knock now, you'll be getting crazy knock after!
